Greetings Gurus, Require your advice

Hello Gurus

I have beeen thinking of installing an audio entertainment in my car which i belive others might have or might not have adopted yet. The concept is simple but i would require advice from technical side. The idea is other i would not have any normal head unit instead all the rider and his co-passengers would see is an mounted mp3 player probably an ipod. There would be four speakers which can be pioneer or jbl. The ipod would be connected to an equaliser which i think is the right equipment and from the equaliser the wiring would go to all the speakers. Easier said than done. But whenever i think of the is concept something is wrong...

Would the sound quality be less or what needs to be present between the mp3 player and the speakers to get good effect from the speakers because possibley later on i might add a sub and an amp.

Please help me out
