Eclipsing along..

Hey guys.. I'm back. Have got the install done, and here's what I have:

HU:Eclipse 3200
Front Comps: Rainbow
Wiring: Kicker
Rear coax: None
Amp: Kenwood (forgot the model, but it's not 8401)

hellspawn might have some install fotos, as well as more details (hey man, pl chip in if you feel I'm losing some detail here).. and thanks for ensuring a NEAT install even though you stretched your day far out for it. In the same breath, THANKS to Gunbir & JB for doing the tuning themselves till they were satisfied with it..not that it needs my certification, but their passion for music surely shines thru full on. They were supposed to step out for an important dinner, but they ended up spending more than an hour (EASILY) tuning the amp, and checking the entire set-up

The sound is beyond GOOD is all I'll say.. as close to real as I've heard.

@frankmehta, just wanted to clarify that the units you're mentioning (5100/5200) are not in production. At this stage, there are only three HUs available with Eclipse (US) and the 3200 falls under the 'total high performance' bracket.. here's the link to their website - ECLIPSE CD Receivers lineup | Fujitsu Ten

@valhallen.282, dude thanks for the advice.. but as you can see, I'm already past that now. Also, the HU cost me MUCH lesser than that, cos I had a friend get it from the US..but the sound quality sure does blast some of the so-called 'branded' HUs out of the water

merlin, congrats on the install!
total high performance, is a claim by the company on their website. the unit has a 16bit d/a converter, which is inferior compared to that of the 24bit d/a converters on most higher end units. the pre out voltage is 5V which is higher than almost all high end head units, so thats a plus. bummer about the d/a converter though. im not too sure how both of these have an effect on SQ but this is what i saw!
overall its a VFM package, with bluetooth, USB and AUX-in. also its an Eclipse, so it goes without saying that sound quality is good and there's a lot of tweaking to be done out there.
great! and please post some pictures! the 3200 is an action packed HU for sure!

PS: hows the UI? is it confusing? like the earlier Eclipses?

ya, the overall combination results in really NICE sound quality..though I know SQ is the kinda journey that I've barely embarked on. I'm already thinking along the lines of upgrading the amp..

@sam_786: you're welcome to audition the setup. PM me whenever you upto it..I'm based outta Ggn. also, am not sure which variant rainbow speakers are fitted. And I did end up getting a 12" sub..thanks to good advice by Gunbir, as well as the Gyro team.

And while I'm on the subject, I must add that the Gyro setup and team is one of the most customer-oriented bunch of people that I've run into..in a LONG time. Thanks guys !

Well its not exactly a replacement for the 8401.The 8404 is the replacement. The 845 is just a step below and at 7k with b&w is an awesome amp.
The rainbow hurricane has the hammer in it,with a portex box made and tuned by rainbow themselves. Its actually a really well made box.The fit and finish of the box is damn neat.
The hurricane is perfect if you listen to 80's music, rock, alternative and general pop.Its more oriented towards music which doesnt stress too much on low end bass. The reason this sub was chosen was because it has a very good high end whack. You can call it an alternative to the image dynamics IDQ subwoofers, and blends in perfectly with the front stage.

Congrats on the Setup Merlin, The Rainbow SLX Series has personally been my favourite. They are tremendous VFM. I am sure it would be sounding great. Make sure you post the pics ASAP or infact start a thread in the Show Off section. Any damping done or was it not required??
