This is the line of thought I'm taking - take power from the cigarette lighter socket source and put a switch in place of the socket. If someone in the rear seat wants to charge their phones (very unlikely) I've already put two additional charging points/cigarette lighter sockets in the cargo area just behind the rear seats.

This seems to be worth a try. I have to find a mechanic now who can sign up for this.

I had thought about that but many a times i used to use that socket to charge my ipod, so i thought maybe he'll need it in the future too; so save the point and get rid of the ashtray.
