They're tactile. It's not a touch screen. Also see the Hamburg 800i. These new HUs are the first ones to feature In Car Internet Radio. Remains to be seen what exactly the internet transport, codec are, and how these fare. But yes, I think In-Car internet radio is a killer app!

Going by previous years, the 2009 Alpine HUs should be here by mid summer. Expect the entry level (under $200) ones first. Alpine is getting more serious about the aftermarket segment this year so maybe they will surprise us with early availability.

Pioneer HU's are looking like minnows in front of Alpine/JVC/Blau.
I expected quite a lot out of them.

Clarion's line up

Clarion in 2009

The new range includes no-optical USB, Bluetooth models and several DVD units too. Sadly, I don't see many high end audio HUs!

Lovely I like the look of the last of those Clarions. DVD is killing high end audio HUs - Video killed the Radio Star Part 2! :-)

These Blau units - for the sake of immediate implementation - would be piggy-backing on phone handset's data connection over GPRS / EDGE / 3G radio, for the time being.

Ultimately, we should see some implementation of WiMax or even built-in EDGE/3G radio. For a long time there has been talk of automotive remote monotoring, diagnostics and general internet broadband access over wireless links, but the transport has been flummoxing eveyone. The key is stable and economical broadband - remains to be seen which technology turns out to be the on-the-move broadband winner. At the moment, the most practical is GPRS / EDGE / 3G.

The Sub isn't available in India yet but the Amp is available with Kenwood dealers for 14490 with B&W.
