Hey Gurus,

I have a basic audio player in my car - just a mp3 cd player without any remote, usb, aux or bluetooth. Is there any steering mounted control that will work in this setup?

Appreciate any pointers. Thanks!

Frank, Does this remote needs any steering wheel remote adapter to work, that comes as optional buy with the HU? Mine is Kenny Excelon X994 HU bought from US of A. & I haven't bought that adapter with the HU

driver2000, if there never was a remote, this will not work since your HU does not have the Remote sensor
whizzkid, no harnesses are required. This remote records the signals from your stock remote, and plays them back. it essentially mimics your stock remote. Apart from you having to teach it , no further stuff is required

Thanks for this post! It helped me take the plunge. As long as it lasts for a year or two I'm happy with the reliability of this.

Now eagerly waiting for it to arrive!

If you don't have the remote for the head unit, you can't use this. It's a learning remote. You have to point the remote at the MPR999 and make it 'learn' the commands. Simple procedure.

Re: The MPR-999 is here! (Universal Learning Steering Remote Control )

there is a relatively inexpensive type of steering remote available from Pioneer.
it is available at Auto Shop Koramangala - cost is about 1320/--1380/-1400/-in that range. i had fixed one when I bought my Scorpio and it still works very well indeed. It is mounted on the steering wheel on the left side so that it is easy to use and so that the signals are picked up by the HU.
I recently fixed one of these on my Dad's Indica also and it works very well there too.
The steering remote is much easier and safer than fiddling with the HU while driving and/or using the standard remote provided with the HU itself.
