Help-blau Essen Mp35

Gurus,

A friend owns an Aveo 1.4 Base which came installed with a Blau ESSEN-MP35 HU

The Problem
1.When the car is started up,the HU display shows all pixels/displays(eg. if a digital display must show only five bars to make up the display "2',the screen shows all eight) and in this case the radio does not work but the cd works.

If the top of the HU is pressed with a finger, the display becomes normal and the radio begins to work.Remove the finger and the display goes back to the crazy state.

2.The unit throws up beeps off and on(at irregular intervals) and the audio cuts when the beep comes on

Request your help on the diagnosis and the recommended solution

PS: The GM dealer, who fitted the unit, first gave some cock and bull story and then said the unit has to be sent to Ahmedabad, which is commonplace here(whenever a technical problem is faced, most people here say,"Isko Bombay bhejna padega" - that includes patients as well)

Thanks Guruji.

I think this unit does not have a detatchable panel - haven't seen it fitted but believe it is fitted to its frame using screws.

The strange thing is - at 12.5V(with vehicle not running),the display is OK and at 14.2V(with vehicle running),this problem occurs. Also there are times during the vehicle running that it becomes normal also.

But any idea on why the beep comes on?

you mean the area around the source button? or is it near teh CD loading slot? If you are pressing the srouce button you are switching from FM to CD so it should do this.

Now that is strange. Try this before sending it it.

from the manual
Switching the confirmation beep
on/off
The system will play a confirmation beep
for some functions if you keep a button
pressed down for longer than two seconds,
for instance, when you assign a
radio station to a station button. You can
switch the beep on/off.
➮ Press the MENU button 8.
➮ Press the or button 7 repeatedly
until “BEEP ON” or “BEEP
OFF” appears in the display.
➮ Adjust the beep setting using the
buttons 7. “OFF” means the
beep is switched off and “ON”
means the beep is switched on.
When you have finished adjusting the
setting,
➮ press the MENU button 8.

if this does not help only a Blaupunkt service center (Mico Bosch) can help.

Thanks for the "beepy" advice,Sir ;will try that out.

On the pressing issue, pressing the area above the CD loading slot helps thE display return to normal.

Prima facie, looks to be that the fitment of the unit is an issue. Also could be that the front panel(fixed) must have gone slightly loose.
