Sound Tuning

Hello Gurus,

I have a Getz CRDi, the following is the config of the ICE,

Alpine 9887r HU
I-pod interface cable
I-Pod Classic 120Gb
Kicker RS Series Components - FR Doors
Infinity Components - Rr Doors
Infinity Ovals - Boom Box
Kicker CVR - DVC - Boom Box
JBL Mono-Bloc Amplifier
Kenwood 4 Channel - 8401 Amplifier.

I have tried to install if not the best yet a very reasonable system config, however despite of all this am yet to be satisfied with the output, I earlier had a Pioneer 7850 HU , I am not able to extract maximum output from the Alpine HU, can somebody help me, also if there is anyone who has an Imprint setup wherein i can get a few features(multieq) enabled on my HU.

Well I think your setup is in a mess owing to which have the following problems-
1.You have 3 sets of speakers which are completely destroying your sound stage,hence you are not getting the desired result.
2.I am assuming that your sub is not in a proper enclosure with proper dimensions.
What you can do to fix it-
1.Get rid of the ovals in the rear,they are certainly not required,specially in a car like the getz.
2.Install the sub in a sealed enclosure,built according to dimensions.
I would recommend you go to a knowledgeable installer who would do the above and tune it accordingly.
You have a brilliant head unit which has amazing sound quality, just needs some tuning.

DjNik has covered it.

You have too many speakers in there. 4 speakers and a sub is all you need for good sound. You have good equipment there. A tuning session with a good installer will solve things.

Many thanks for your response and suggestions.

I am looking out for a good installer, who could help me setup the sound in my ride. Someone who can have a imprint kit as well for the calibration. Can you guys suggest anyone.

A very simple way to demo your system and realize what songs really make it kick:

I tried this last night, please do not try this at home unsupervised as your music may cause mayhem!!

Simple get one of the best hip hop DJs in the world in your car and get him to play whatever he wants and re-tune your setup. 5 mins later the music coming out is CRAZY!!!

Caution: Cops and staff at the CS International Airport will crowd your car

No it's just that these guys who DJ at the top have spent soooooo much time in studios and mixing, mastering etc, they have the the best understanding of practical tuning. He just sat in my car, played some of his stuff (unreleased mix tapes) and fiddled around with the settings with my permission.

About 5 mins later the music was really kicking. It was great earlier, but there was an audible difference, which was better suited to hardcore rap, not commercial stuff.

This DJ must have been an amateur/professional car audio tuner. Most folks I know are not overly bright tuners/sound engineers.

Is this true DJ are that good then i too need one but where can i find them (just kidding)

Fiddled with the setting on Amp or on the HU, Why your friends need permission to change the setting if you don't like it you can change them to your liking right.

Haha guys when you have one of the hottest DJs in the world trust me they've been in the studio for more hours than most artists and sound engineers. These are the guys who come up with the beats that everyone jams to. I can't disclose the DJs name, but just keep in mind that he tours the world to do shows etc and has hundreds of tracks to his name, many of them world wide number ones!

So I request that those who don't understand the fact that they know music and have ears better trained than most please refrain from posting.

Karan to answer your question he fiddled with settings on the HU, and I hate people messing with my stuff without my permission. So yeah my permission is manditory before messing with my audio tuning...

The tuning fit better to the style of music that I prefer, I mostly listen to real rap none of that faker Akon stuff, so it suited the hard vocals better...

Most DJs know their music better than I do mine, but many professional ones also have poor listening after years of DJing. Especially those who look down upon earplugs and never wear them while they are performing.

I frankly have no clue what he did as we were on our way to the airport. I'll need to sit with the settings and pay attention to see where the changes were. All I know is that I'm enjoying music more post the interesting session.

It is true that hearing loss is an occupational hazard for DJs, but i doubt the problem plagued the DJ in question, as he doesn't play in clubs, but only does shows on occasion. the rest of his time is spent in the studio pumping out beats for many hip hop artists, including the current number 1 US and UK billboard hits.
