In the high end cars, it is true that the HU will not work in any other car, even a similar model. Like someone said, a thief will not bother to remove a integrated HU simply for the reason that it will be hard to sell whereas a sony or a pioneer will have an excellent resale.

3 HU + Amp = Total of 4 incidents.
Are the burgulars thrashing your window or some thing to gain access of car internals.

if not, then it seems like they have access to your car keys. or they have duplicate keys, Did u gave your keys to some unreliable parking attendant ????

or maybe they are using a metal scale / ruler to open the car.

consider changing your car locks and get a plate installed making opening of santro using a ruler a immpossible task.

do u have a keyless central locking / alarm installed ?
does ur vehicle have something like ICAT system of maruti????? else consider installing a good gear lock..... else next time it could be ur car .....

got hyundai cobra installed, new sound system and endorsed the music system and amplifier under insurance.

still, the nightmares of that disastrous past weekend continue in my mind

the gear lock is installed at the time we purchased the car.

it was opened with a scale, for sure.

Question : Is it possible to insure products bought from abroad? Assume that proper bill is there.

talk with your insurance guy. i believe your stock head unit will be under the original insurance policy. for the rest of the setup, you will need the bill and warranty card. ask your guy that you want to endorse the entire setup on insurance. he will charge some extra premium and your stereo will be insured.

I would suggest you start taking care of street dogs outside your house. Give them Milk and food twice a day. They'll always stick near your house and the thieves away. I do the same thing it works and I dont have to keep a guard too. Moreover you giving food to hungry dog is an amazing feeling alltogether..

Good job somebodystopme. Wish more people could do that instead of throwing stones at them.

I'd presume that integrated HU's are a lesser attraction to thieves as they would fit only the car originally designed for. Compare that to a standard Pioneer / similar brand HU which will do the job in pretty much any car.

However, if your integrated HU is from a best-selling car (Swift, i10 etc.), then the thief should not have a problem getting a decent price for the stolen goods.

Lovely!
All the street dogs are my friends. Our house is the preferred delivery room too! Then ... baby care centre! Not indoors though.
Same with the street cats!

Bumping up an old thread. I am planning to buy Ritz with integrated stereo. Am I still at risk of getting the unit stolen? Can anything be done with the stock units to make the theft proof to certain degree?

Taking delivery of my Ritz this Sunday, with the integrated stereo. AFAIK and from what I've seen of the stereo being disassembled at the workshop for repairs/removal, it should be relatively thief-proof, as it takes rather long to unscrew the panel and remove the entire thing. I went for the integrated stereo for the same reason... had to carry around my HU when I had my Santro, and it really was a pain to make sure I remembered to carry the HU with me on a long trip or suffer incessant chats by the family members On another note, the SQ doesn't really matter much to me, so I guess the Nippon stereo does its duty to my expectation.
