Need DVD/VCD Player for SX4 - No Cut or Replace?

Experts, need some suggestion on how to add some DVD/VCD player/screen in my SX4, without replacing the existing system or any cut/replace job. Just like plug and play, with its own speaker system, like an independent unit. Something portable DVD player or Sun Visor Player kind

I need this urgently, to play cartoons for my daughter.

Using a Visor Player... works like a charm

It is more or less replacement of Left Sun Visor, Has it's independent Speaker and controls. Plays CD/DVD, Reads Memory Cards and USB drives. As a bonus it is also provided with two remotes for playing games as well

RK, you can also use a fully portable CD/DVD player that runs off the cigarette lighter socket.
That way, it can be used anywhere in the car, or outside while on a picnic etc...
Nothing that a short visit to Akihabara will not solve! Cyberhome?

I bought it from Karol Bagh, for around 5.3 K around a year back. Yes, it plays on 12V. It plays every VCD, Divx etc. Yes, it has the menu thing as well.

I second anupmathur's idea. Get a portable DVD player and plug it into the cigarette lighter socket. If possible get an aux-in from your existing HU and connect the DVD player through that.

There is another nice option of running any mains operated device in the car. You can buy a variety of inverters that work off the lighter socket. Available from 50 watts rating all the way up!

Somehow i wasn't comfortable with scattered in car and occupying cigarette lighter while looking for such options.

Another foreseen benefit i got after installing the visor player was a hidden multimedia setup from a thief's eye.

Mathur Saab & esteem_lover, these portable players are difficult to manage in car. its difficult to put them in comfortable position.
People at Akihabara does not gaurantee VCD compatibility and I doubt as well. Though on my next trip I will try to find something, which can be left in car. But its not cheap there anymore.

That makes whole thing too cumbersome, I always have options of running my Laptop that way, but I want some low cost option. Which can be left in the car.

Stay away from chinese dvd vcd players. They hardly last long.
Try out Portable Philips DVD player. Costs around 6-7K.

There are a few which are suspended from the headrest and hang behind the front seat. Usually China made, have a side slot for inserting DVD. I have seen these in Japan and Germany. And yes, all of them play VCDs since all of them use common codec / controller chips.

DerAlte, which are the codecs for Super-VCDs? I've found many VCD players unable to play SVCDs and a few DVD players unable to play them.

Get a chinese DVD HU for 4-5K & install it at the rear parcel shelf. Someone has already done that here.
