a better HU is always good. But Vitamin M is needed for better things in life. And i think hes stuck in 5K budget. And i have gone through Chirag's ICE journey and i must say the guy knows his music and what equipment he wants.

I would suggest Chirag to look between the following brands:

Pio, Kenny, Panasonic. Forget JVC!

Which HU is there in his other car ? I have been using 5090 for almost 9 months and no complaints from it what so ever.

Cons of 5090 which i feel
1. Confusing Menu options
2. under 80hz HPF options

And i have been on the lookout for upgrading the HU for sometime now but just couldn't find the perfect one. Have tried Basic Alpine HU's but i was not impressed. Sounded same as kenny.

kenwood and alpine sound the same if you're gonna amp them. But I've felt that the built in amp of alpine HU's to be a bit better than those of kenwoods

9845EM which comes in Honda / Safari ? Go for 9845 it has 2 preouts. Display options are better than kenny and they both sound same.

If i were you, would have preffered the Pio-4050 anyday with full requirment of 3pre-amp out Subwoofer control,if you can tune it then even the hz frequencies works awesome do wonders to the sound and ofcourse good SQ with complete control over the ICE.....IMHO and my little R&D i feel only the premium Alpines sounds better, rest entry level sounds like a loud radio,I would prefer Pio over them anytime complete VFM... and Kenny HU they dont impress me even 1%

ok guys i Have picked up 9872 for time being..

i will swap with other car after some time but the build quality of HU is just awesome pioneer , kenny looked way too delicate..

It has only 1 RCA (Front + Woofer combined) out though but as I said i will do the swapping with pioneer which has 3 and suits my requiremnent..

About the SQ , offcourse it is better than Sony but not that much but the tweeter plays more refined ...

rest JBL 1004 is taking care of

congrats chiragh, thats a great HU! how much did you get it for ? I have a 9870.
It doesnt have a volume knob, aux in or USB, but the SQ (especially when using the built in amp) is much better than most HU's in the price range

PS: have you tuned it? what settings are you running it on?
