No man, nitrous is not selling anything. He is a hardcore fan of JBL and everyone in Chennai knows him.

Also I have seen a JBL 75.4 is still in stock and also seen a JBL 74.6 for the first time in my life. But if you know any friends in Chennai, We will guide you to fetch the 1004/75.4/75.6

Even I met a guy who is ready to give me the 1004 for Rs.12000 with Bill and warranty. But it cant beat the grey price(?)

Exactly. Looks like a big brother of 75.4 with 6 channels. He quoted me around 13k(no warranty), but I am not interested as I cant left the two channels unused.

Friends,

I also want to confirm you that, Is it normal to have this "IMPORTED BY" sticker in a Grey market piece:

No, lol it's not normal. You got a great deal, congratulations. Do check if the serial number of the amplifier and the box match.

Cheers and let us know how it sounds.

Alright! Sam, a question for you - In some other thread you have mentioned that when you get a cheap deal, there has to be some reason. Now the 1004 that ibm_j bought was imported in Aug 07. So its manufactured sometime before Aug 07 (what a point!).

So from a buyer's PoV I am not sure about how the amp was stored/stocked blah blah. So is it advisable to buy JBL products without B&W (JBL since this Qn is shot at you lol)

No Guys, It looks like a old/stocked piece. It doesn't have any Warranty Card or Bill. I can take the serial no photo if Sam needs it.

Don't laugh boys, he is entitled to ask any question he likes.

In the link he posted earlier, he bought a product from JBL that was never ever marketed in India. It failed and he chose to repair it. I supported him with circuit information. No harm done. No harm in asking either. We're all BHPians. Going out of our way to help each other is the unwritten code.

Now ibm_j you horrible man, let me answer you your question.

Never mind the sticker or the stock date, it will be impossible for you to avail of official warranty without a hologrammed card and a copy of your original invoice.
So my answer is no. Officially.

For my unofficial answer look a few lines above.

It says so on the sticker. Manufactured in June 2007.

It's a tricky question.

Clearly it is best, safest and most reliable and recommended to buy fresh, officially imported JBL products from an authorized JBL dealer with all the correct paperwork and warranty and peace of mind. Any sensible person knows that.

But not everyone buys an iPod from an apple store or a Nokia phone from a Nokia priority centre.

In the grey market there is no honour, no proper storage, no guarantee. Stock is generally older or suspect, margins are wafer-thin and no VAT is paid to the government. You cannot expect any service or a buying experience.
You can only hope that it will work well, or rely on inter-personal relationships and verbal assurances instead of warranty.

BUT you save money. Official margin money, octroi money, CST and VAT money - all that translates into a lower buying price.

I would always advise to weigh the pros and cons before parting with your hard-earned money.

But I wonder, if it has the Sahil sticker, Isn't it CST/VAT paid? May be a counterfeit sticker or repaired unit?
