Hi Rohan
I was at GYRO today till 3.30pm. Just dropped to audition Subs for my cuurent setup. Auditioned the following -
1) 15" IDQv3 - Sealed - Very fast and tight kicky bass. Was too precise and punchy. I don't think i can bear that. I need soft bass but not too much boomy.

2) 12" IDv3 - Ported - This was good. Nearest to my taste but boomy since ported.

3) 15" Hertz 900W - sealed - Not a good experience. Amp clipping at highs, not much kick. Lots of vibration. May be due to lack of tuning.

4) 12" Bull - sealed - The output in the cabin was not optimum but the bass was good. It's the best which blended with the ID CTX compo. IMHO, 2 sub in a sealed may do the right job.

As far as the whole experience goes, i discovered, i need something that comes in between IDQ and IDv3 or the two Bulls. Now, will audition all the GZ subs in my next visit to delhi.

O.T. - Heard sam's Profi compo and Profi Sub. The components were too amazing - detailed, clarity, bass at the right note at right time. Profi sub was also nice.

Why..it may not be the sub`s fault might be the tuning made it play like that.

Yeah.. amazing sub! first it'll perform SPL and then will force you to migrate to SQ..

@frank & KK, I do run a single IDQ12 d2v2. And I have listened to an IDQ d2v3 (in a sealed box). As KK said, the IDQv3 goes lower and louder than the IDQv2, without losing the speed and accuracy that is characteristic of the IDQv2. The v3 has indeed brought the sound of the IDQ closer to that of the IDMax.

I quite liked the IDQv3 and would definitely upgrade to one when I have the money (after I add a TRU S500 and upgrade my HU, and mayyyybe add a TRU SSLD6 heh heh). Till then I will surely be very happy with the IDQv2.

@rohanGT, in case you'd like to know about the Image Dymanics subs:
Level 1 (entry): CTX, approx 8.5K. Have not listeneed to it yet.
Level 2: IDv3, 13-14K. Nice, fast accurate bass, not as fast & accurate as the IDQv2, but goes louder than the IDQv2 (given the same amount of power).
Level 3: IDQv2, 16K or so. Very fast & accurate bass. Handles transients perfectly. Needs only a small enclosure. Works best in a sealed box. Does not go as loud as the IDv3, given the same amount of power. Will be happy with 200w RMS or so, and will kick like a mule with 500wRMS. Now out of production, but still available in small quantity.
Level 4: IDQv3, 21-22K. All the characteristics of the IDQv2. But goes louder and lower. More cone area, better power handling. Looks better than the v2 (if that matters).
Level 5 (top of the line): IDMax V3, 34K or so. The badass sub. Fast, accurate, loud. Goes very very low. Will do well (in SQ application) even with 300w to 350w, and will go ballistic in SPL application with upto 1000+w. (BTW, 'ballistic' is from the PoV of an SQ-oriented person.)

You shouldn't have trouble auditioning these in Delhi. There will be enough installs right on this forum.

All the best with your hunt for the sub.

Sorry Hydra.. tend to disagree here.. I've auditioned IDq with 284W RMS, but the results were NOT as expected.
