What sub 10K Amp?

My ICE setup consists of a carputer hooked to a Pioneer HU driving a pair of Boston s60 in the front and JBL GTO938 in the rear

I usually do not listen to my music loud yet I have a feeling (although I may be wrong so please correct me if so) that the HUs internal amp is getting strained, esp with the 2 ohm gto 938 rears

The easiest and most cost-effective solution is to get a basic 4 channel amp installed, the million $ question (err..10000 INR question ) is which one?

The GTO 938 and the other 2 ohm speakers from JBL work quite well with just an HU.
But, if you want to get an amp, I'd suggest either the basic JBL GT5-A604 (~5.5k) for full range speakers. And the JBL GTO 1004(9k) for front comps + sub setup.

um, some blaupunkts have 3.5 mm inputs for aux in devices.

PS: I still dont think a pio HU will have issues driving a pair of jbl 6x9's.

are they in phase, is there any leakage, is the install proper etc...

Knowing you, i dont think you will go overboard with the EQ, But just check anyway.

The GTO 1004 retails around that in grey. Check with our local JBL wallah, nitrous.

looks like the jbl wallah has already responded.

The install is proper and they sound pretty good as is
Perhaps I am spoiled silly with the home HT and stereo setups and want the car install to come close (while on a budget)
Too much to ask for perhaps, and maybe an amp wouldn't help me get any closer to that goal
But then I wouldn't know without trying :( (and getting poorer by 10K, a big amount, esp given the current state of affairs)

I say add a cheap/second hand 2 channel amp and a sub ( again, second hand if available). the problems is that if you try to push any amount of serious bass out of the rears , they/the HU will distort. Rather than trying to coax bass which the 6x9's may or may not produce, why not get a proper sub. Not sure about the 938, but I A/B'd the 937 and my hertz dieci's at my dealers ( they had a comparison setup - the dealer was pushing alpine ), and the JBL's were a bit less sensitive

10k is cheaper than 10L anyway

aight, then why a 10k budget? a 10k amp would be limited by the rear speakers and the HU in your system. why not, say an entry level grey pioneer/kenwood amp which costs ~6k or so

sure enough, less is always better

I could do away with the HU altogether if needed, but would prefer to retain the circular (and tactile) volume knob on the HU instead of using the touchscreen for volume control

got a JBL GT5-A604
must say my doubt about an amp making a discernible difference (or not) was misplaced

Me & a friend did a self install today and the difference is pretty big

I'd put all my money on either a JBL 1004 or a Blaupunkt GTA480(that takes a 3.5mm input).
This will keep you happy and even allow you to add a subwoofer to the system when you need it.

which amp what price

i have a fiat petra .it has a pioneer hu and gto 608 in front and infinity 9633 in rear both running from hu . i have a 2 channel sony amp which runs a sub .now i want to upgrade it . i have some queries.
1 what is the sq difference between gto 1004 and gt5-644 amp which is better and what is their price .if both are available should i go for 1004 . i am planning to run the front comp and the sub with the amp . the sub will also be upgraded to a jbl amp.the rear speakers from hu
2. should i run the front comp and rear coax with the amp and remove the current amp and sub and later go for mono amp and sub.
3 if i remove the prev amp can its wiring be used for gto 1004 or should i go for fresh wiring .

The GTO 1004 has more power than the GT5-644, and that would give better possibilities. But it is also twice the cost (~12K) as compared to the 644 (~6K). If you can get it, nothing like it.

You should change your wiring if you are putting in a new amp. Since your existing system runs off the HU, you anyway need to put in new speaker wires from the amp to the front components. So effectively you will change only the power cable. You could use any reputed Indian brand power wire.

You could run the rear coaxes off the existing amp till you replace it with a mono later.

Is 12K the official price for GTO 1004 with B&W or grey market ?
