This is quite good amount of load for battery. Will this PSU be able to give steady 12v even during self start? Check it otherwise it will cause restart of PC whenever you will start the engine.

Where are you sourcing your parts from ? Being a Safari, I guess there will be no space constraints. You can even think of installing a thin client.

Its all from abroad. I am sure not to source any single unit from iride (Aren't they overpriced? My entire system will cost around $2000, if I bought everything in India!)

I am not interested in VoomPC cases as space is not a constraint to me. I have planning to install the PC in a Micro ATX Zeb cabinet called CUBE : Products - Pro Series, Computer Cabinets, Keyboards, Mouses, Power Supplies, Speakers, Web Cameras, Jet, Hawk, Shivaji, Antibiotic

The reason for this: Its cheap and couldn't stress my $1000 budget. Its heavy(yes 6.5KG!) and dont shake. It looks fantastic and its CUBE in shape, not rectangular.

Yes, its a 360W $200 PSU from OPUS and it will handle 7.5v also using inbuilt capacitors.

are you sure that if you got the same things form iride it will cost you expensive

in my opinion which i have seen till date (for the last 7 months from the date i have started my car pc setup ) i have invested around 60k (1200$) and i am just short of the sound card ,rest the setup has been completed .

it includes wirings, adaptors, hubs, gps modules, screen fitments to double din(as my car is santro) mmi scroller( like the bmw and audi),belkin cables

why you going for the 10 inch screen i think the feasible one is 8inch one

Where do you wanto install it?
why you going for 360W PSU ,you can go for the 250watts which is sufficient.

the main question is that how you will osurce the parts fron US? yourself go and buy and then hand carry, any friend, any dealer or will directly ship from there to india

This question will give your costing to us at one go .

still i would say to got for iride as you can get the after sales service from then rather than the US ones (just think ,this i am saying because few days back my screen wasn't working while changing the position and it was sheldon who helped me not the US company )even my friend have a US purchased screen and it's not working now and we are looking for a engineer in delhi who can repair it

I completely agree with smokin here. I have experienced the excellent support from iRide.
Sheldon has replaced my PSU thrice. And My final SB-160D is working beautifully.
Sending back those stuffs for replacement to US/U.K. would be costly for sure.

I am sure it will cost me $2000 if I build the same PC from the products in india.

Yes, All of them works for me.

The product what iride sells is nothing but mini-box PSUs and China TFTs. A 10.4 inch TFT monitor cost you 20k in iride where 10k if you buy it from the manufacturer directly. They too give you 1 year warranty and it wont cost you more to reapir. The Samsung LCD Panel cost you $50 to replace and the touchpanel cost you $20 to replace.

Do you power the screen with regulated 12v or battery 12v?

Ok here is the answers for all your WHY this questions:

Cabinet: Zebronics Pro CUBE
Why this: It’s the cheap and compact Micro ATX Cab with 6.5 kg weight

Motherboard: Gigabyte EG31MF-S2
Why this: It has Advanced DES which saves upto 70% power

CPU: Intel E7300
Why this: It’s the cheap 45nm Core 2 Duo proc with Speedstep technology

Yes, I too highly recommend you guys to buy from iride, if your budget is more than $1000 and going to buy products like Mini-box DC-DC power supplies, Lilitput/AUO/InnoLux touchscreen monitors and Intel mini-itx based motherboards.

If you are a kind of person who is still living with a croppy/stupid/faulty TCIC SAFARI, then I may not recommend you iride.

ooohhhhh you are so rich! this is not the language you should use if anyone is just suggesting you to buy a good thing rather than suffering later.

if you happy with the same go ahead ,i would love to see this config pc for sure

and do mind it my setup is way ahead of your 1000$ ones so mind it ,i already have spend more than 60000 (1400 $ i suppose as some of equipments were purchased at 40INR per$)

so it's not the money always my dear friend we see ,it's the convenience during the issues/problems/mishapp and i am really really happy with my setup as i have some friends who can help me out during my problems.

if you are satisfied with the same ,that's what really matters .

@nisarg:what's the update?

No man, you completely misunderstand my statement. I tried to say if you are poor, then avoid buying from iride and import from china. Iride is one of the best car pc supplier in india, but we cant buy anything from them to build a Car PC in $1000. For example, your small ITX-Pc cost you more than $1400.

For poorman's like me(those who cant even buy a 2.2 DICOR) I dont recommend iride.
