Amp & Sub from UK?

Hi Friends
I am looking for a 2/4 ch Amp to power the ID CTX comp and a Subwoofer 12"/15" to be powered by the Eclipse mono. One of my cousin is going to UK next week.
1) Will i get the amp & sub cheap as compared to India?
2) Suggest the amps 2/4 ch under Rs. 15k
3) Suggest the Sub 12"/15" under Rs. 15k
4) Also, mention the source to get the product -website or store ?

Like to have an audiophile SQ setup. The car to be ICEd is NHC.

To answer a few of your questions:

1. In UK, its best to check on both websites and audio stores to see who offers the best prices. Tottenham Court Road in London has some amazing shops offering great deals on amplifiers almost through the year. Otherwise websites are always an option.

2. Cheaper: Yes, if one gets good deals they can be very economical. Now with US$ appreciating and GBP depreciating there isnt too much of a difference in US and British prices from a Rupee standpoint. I almost cry when I see quality ICE stuff in India at 2-2.5 times retail price in UK.

3. Customs duty: The IGI Delhi guys are prone to harassing young enthusiasts for customs duty. In December, I brought a Macbook Air from Belgium, and had my official Dell laptop as well. Had to pay a painful 75 Euro bribe to get through...and 30 mins of haggling

4. Warranty: Not sure of those products offer global warranty

Hope this helps

Cheers

I had no problems with the custom duty & guarantee. Will take care of that.
The Amp currently i had in my mind is Genesis Profile 2. Do anybody suggest other alternatives?

SB i was about to say get a Genesis if your cousin is going to UK. You can get your hand on Profile 2 for around 11K in UK. I saw it on ebay UK retailing for around £169 some time back. I think you can even squeeze a Profile 4 within 15K. Bridge the channels and 140 X 2 to those mighty ID's

Edit:
Just checked you can lay your hands on Profile 2 for £150 and a Genesis Audiophile 30.01 Subwoofer for £149

SB a suggestion. Increase the overall budget by 3K. And you will have

1. Profile 2 for ID's
2. 2 x 30.1(250W RMS each) subwoofers running of Eclipse 480W RMS x 2

*drools*

I too wish for a Genesis Series III amp. Reading on some forum that it's huge difference between Profile & Series III Amps, but budget is playing foul right now.

That seems to be perfect right now. Do you have any experience with Genesis subs. Did'nt got across any fair review of the Genesis sub so far. The other sub i was thinking of is Rainbow Hammer or Rainbow Amboss.

Well Profile III is costlier and might eat up the whole budget. It must be around at least £250

Well I can compare Rainbow Hammer with iDV3. Hammer is controlled, tight, fast sub where as iDV3 is more towards exaggerated low end and boom.

The Audiophile 30.1 is not a loud sub. Its more towards SQ. Its like iDQV2 which doesn't go loud but has perfect integration.

Buy 1 Hammer or Amboss and hook it up with 480W RMS Eclipse. That will go louder than 2 Gene 30.1.

And yes you can feed the Audiophile 30.1 around 500W RMS per sub easily

Well then I can buy 1 Hammer for NHC and 1 Audiophile for i10 (Sub will be powered Blau GT4), Since NHC do need a little louder sub.
This way I will have an option to experience both and if i like Audiophile sub more than the Hammer than can buy 1 more of it in the future and put two Audiophile in the NHC.

Try :

Car Audio Direct for car stereo, navigation and audiovisual electronics.

Car Audio Equipment - BassJunkies.com

Tell your cousin to phone them up and try and wangle a better price or free delivery. With the current credit crunch biting hard it is amazing what good deals you can get through a bit of arm twisiting.

If your cousin is going to the midlands then he can visit the Bass Junkies and pick the item up.

(I have no affiliation with the sites mentioned but have bought good from them in the past without any problems at reasonable prices).

Bad luck friends, plan of cousin to visit UK cancelled. Another relative coming from US also could not carry any stuff due to baggage limits. Will work out the options available here in India.

@mods - kindly close the thread.
