I voted for the Pioneer - although I believe Alpine is the best of this lot. I'd say its best to buy a Pioneer since the prices are reasonable for decent performance, and service/spares if needed will be relatively easy find.

Our Vtec has an Alpine and the Wagon R has been fitted with a Pioneer system. I'm no car stereo buff but, i preffer Pioneer. It's got rich output with awesome depth and feel.

hey hot rod, buddy, just close ur eyes and go for a pioneer system.it is way much better than any other brand.i am using a sony 510 cassette reciever with a 10 cd changer in my honda along with ts 2150 speakers,ts 20 tweeters and two front speakers(oe).and one of my friends got the same setup in his honda but with a pioneer mouth(8850) with a cd changer.and trust me,i actually envy him for that coz there`s a hell lot of difference in the sound quality and clarity.

so the basic conclusion will be going for a pioneer system.
now its ur choice.btw which car do you want to put the system into?

i have a pioneer in my 800 and a JVC in my accent.

pioneer is what i have just put up some months back but have been using JVC right from the time the accent was bought in 2001.
has never given any problems and reasonable sound quality .

as far as my 800 is concerned the pioneer is good for me as i m not fussy abt the sound and am happy as far as i get to hear my radio and my cassetes collection.

Other - Blaupunkt!

Currently using a Bahamas MP34 single cd/mp3 player in my skoda. i love the simplicity of the headunit.

Mated with a Concorde V12 amp, Blaupunkt 6" components in the front, Kenwood 718 6x9"s in the rear parcel tray and a JBL 12" 1000w Bass Bin in the boot.

this is a trick question. there are too many other variables that are to be considered.

I have a pioneer mp3 head unit in my esteem along with the amp, sub and all the works ..Dads E 250D has a Mark Levinson and the 800 has the original Clarion system that came along with it in 1986. Pioneer is a dream at the price.

it is SONY for me. have used alpine, pioneer, nakamichi, blaupunkt.....but find that value for money is only from SONY. they actually have created an excellent niche in the market today from being a level 3 brand 2 years back!!!
