Branded Speaker wire in Chennai / India

Friends,

I like to replace my current speaker wires with some good quality OFC wires. I couldn't source any good wires in Chennai.

Anybody know someone to ship some good quality 16 Awg wires to Chennai? I know LBM has Illusion Electra, but I am not satisfied with the build quality of Illusion brand(No offence, its my personal experience!). I am interested in Connection Audison / Monster / kicker / Tsunami etc... Please guide me.

Go for Kicker 12 AWG cable, very good quality stuff. I think it retails for 220 Rs / meter approx.

you should be able to get reasonably thick and good speaker wire at ritchie street.

I dont believe too much in Hi Fi speaker wires

Yes, there are MX and NAX speaker wires available and they are good too. But they are not selling it in loose and I have to buy 100 meter bundle.

Its all for quality. I got a huge improvement in sound quality after upgrading the head unit to Xonar DX PC. But when I checked my speaker wirings they are very bad and almost dead. Its done in Technocrat, but I dont know why they used poor quality non OFC wires with my setup. They have even used the same 16 awg wire for my JBL sub too (Believe me, i dont know why its always happening to me!!!). I too dont know till 2 days before that I need a 12 AWG for sub. I came to know about this from LBM, and I have replaced the sub wirings to 14 AWG as nobody in chennai is ready to sell me 2 meters 12 awg speaker wire.

LBM is sending only one set of wire while I need 4 sets for 4 componenets. I am also replacing my RCA cables from MX to Monster 401. But I know MX is not bad and I really like them. But I am sure something wrong somewhere. This is the main reason for my upgrade.

Can anybody please guide me: If I play the same song using the same car computer in my home - with my old Creative 5.1 speakers (and yes with the same RCA cables), the sound quality is awesome - almost 200% better than my car setup. Why, any idea? Is it normal?

I think it could still be cheaper , especially when compared to some high end wires.

why your car setup sounds worse? maybe because of the way the speakers are installed? maybe because the placement of speakers is not at the optimum location in the car ? I assume you have verified that the phase of the wiring is correct everywhere.

I am sure the phases are correct as I tested with 1.5 v battery too.

I am not saying my setup is Bad. Its awesome and I know my car sounds wonderful when comparing to the XPLOD setups I have heard in GP road and my workshop. The problem is I never compared my car setup with another JBL car setup. But I am sure, when I tried to play the same song using the same car computer with my Yamha HS50 on Mackie VLZ3, my car setup is a joke. Even my creative 2.0 beats my car setup at any day.

My question is: Is it normal? Do you all living in the same boat or something wrong with my setup?

Yet now I have done/planned the following to correct my mistakes:

1. Changed the 8 Gauge power & Ground wire of JBL 75.4 to 6 Gauge Fiberglass wire
2. Replaced the Pioneer Headunit to a CarPC with Asus Xonar DX sound card
3. Changed all MX 1111 RCAs to Monster 401 XLN RCAs
4. Changed all Stereo extensions to Monster iCableLink
4. Changed the 16 AWG Subwoofer wire with XLR to 14AWG NAX wire with MX Speakon connector
5. Planned to change all 16 awg speaker cables to Good quality OFC cables
6. Planned to replace Front JBL607c to Illusion Electra 6.1
7. Planned to power the rear speakers with JBL 1004

Is anything I missed out?

the safari stock install location suffers from the same problems as my indica location. the slots for the grille leak air and sound from the back, leading to poor mids and bass.

you can see the slots around the speaker in the safari and in my indica. I think this is a problem endemic to tata vehicles - mounting speakers on the plastic door panels. not exactly a good idea.

I eventually got around it by using the grille that came with the speaker to cover the entire thing. You might have to try some creative DIY

i was considering using foam/rubber sheets at those particular points.

in addition, tried playing around with the eq?

where exactly does the car lose out compared to the 5.1?
