Thank you Ravin. With the controls on flat, it sounds so true. I am still grappling with the sound options available in this HU.

Hi Esteem lover,

My friend has the clarion DXZ785USB and alpine MRP-F600 in his truck and was impressed by the sound quality, the same day i checked here and read good reviews about HU. So he ordered the same for me. Now i see we both have the same HU and AMP. I didn't buy the 2 channel amp thnking about the customs problem. Also i am not very keen on adding a sub immediately. This is the first time i will be using a Component speaker. So i want to go step by step.

Once i read your thread i told my friend about all the other stuff you ordered and he told thats the best way to go and he also ordered the cables and damping.

Now me being a first timer please suggest me what i need to do once i come back.
I am planning to audition few components and descide on that first.

Your advice will be a great help.

Sorry for the delay b-p.
Certainly a good choice of equipment there. Make sure you get good speakers. I am still running my old speakers which aren't bad but this is the area that is weak at the moment in my setup.

A million $ question Mr.Rao. I guess you would have to snatch it from a fellow BHPian if he is willing to let it go. Else ask someone to get it from the US or you can order it from here through various Internet sites.

I picked the cable and the damping looking at your setup. I must thank you for posting all the details here. Selecting the speakers we easy for a novice like me.

I have been obsessed for a long time with having a carputer installed & I have been sourcing parts for some time now. For want of funds, the project just keeps getting delayed (just like some of the flyovers & subways). I decided to put an end to that and get started with what I have. So, here is my basic carputer set up that I want to put in. Please let me know if I have missed anything(Hope it ain't very expensive).
Carputer
  1. Touchscreen Monitor - Check
  2. 12v-12v Power Supply - Check
  3. Basic PC(3 year old AMD, 1GB DDR(Will upgrade this later), 80GB PATA) - Check
  4. USB Bluetooth - Check
  5. VGA Cable - Check
  6. USB Cable extn. for the touchscreen.
  7. Power cable - During install
  8. 3.5mm to RCA cable - Check
  9. Mouse & KB - Do I need them ? If so where to keep 'em ? Remember my car is an esteem, I am cramped for space.
  10. Sound card - will come at a later stage, will use the onboard audio until then.
I just want to get this thing started off first which is why I am not using a new PC. I have 2 PCs at home & I plan to start off with one of them in a more compact cabinet.

Please add anything more that I would be needing.
Thanks

@esteem_lover.
For Mouse & KB. Get the keyboard with trackball or touchpad.
Welcome to Usb.brando.com
i keep my keyboard in front glovebox.
Also consider AM/FM Tuner. if you are radio head.
You will need USB HUB. would be useful. e.g. connecting external HDD or pendrive.

I am wondering if I should retain the HU & connect the audio from the PC to the aux in of the HU. That way I can have the radio as well pop in a CD for quick listening. Or should I remove the HU and connect directly to the AMP ?
