ICEing my i10

Hi,
I bought my first car a Hyundai i10 Magna (Electric Red) on February 4th 2009. In haste on the very same day of the delivery took the car to an accessories shop in Kormangala and got an ICE setup done.
These are the stuffs that got added.

Non ICE upgrade
Rear Spoiler & Plati 13” Alloys

ICE Setup:
Head - Pioneer FH-P6050UB
Front - JBL GT5-S204
Rear - JBL GTO938
Sub - JBL 10"Subwoofer Tube - CS1004T
Amplifier - Sony Xplod - XM-ZR6022

I was pretty much happy with the setup, but the lack of a boot space was troubling me and after a long distance trip, decided to get rid of the tube. I was searching frantically for means and methods of getting a sub without losing much space and using the same sub from the tube.
That’s when on Team-BHP I came across Satya from EVO. Gave him a visit and we decided on getting a sub enclosure custom built and use the same sub from the tube.
He fabricated an awesome looking box and the sub now is tight and it plays well integrated with the music. I am not a Boom Boom person, so this just sounds sweet and tight.

My next upgrade will be a set for Components for the front and a four channel amp to power the components and the sub. I might use the current Sony amp to power the rears. I need to also redo the entire wiring and the door damping. (hoping to get this done in a couple of months)
I am looking for a good set of components. I was thinking of something from JBL but it’s a little sharp on the highs, not the kind of way I like my music.

Gurus of ICE please do let help me out here, with something that’s not too sharp on the highs. I like something that’s, should I say sober and clear.
Components should stay within 6 grands. I listen to mostly country, pop, soft rock, bollywood. Trance and hip hop at times on long drives.

Regards,
Alex

You can consider Illusion Audio components - the Electra range. The 6.5" ones cost 7k. I believe there are smaller sizes available too. Should suit your listening preference - these are smooth and laid back, not sharp. I'm a very satisfied user of these speakers.

Many options around for the 4 channel amp from JBL, Ground Zero, Blaupunkt, Kenwood etc. Just search around the ICE section for these.
IMHO, sell off the Sony amp and run the rear speakers off your head unit. You don't want the rears to be too intrusive - just provide some fill.

Hi AKi10
Congrats for the new car & ICE ! Kindly post the pics of the sub-box made by Evo. Me too considering the same option for my i10. Thinking of putting the sub out of tube and putting it in the i10.
Options for components under 7k - Illusion & Bull.
Options for 4 ch amp under 5-8k - Blaupunkt GT4MKII, Kenwood 8404.
Options for 4 ch amp near 10k - JBL GTO1004, GZ Iridium.

AKi10, Congrats, thats a Bright color and car.
We'll all be waiting for your ICY PICS.

superbhikari GT4MKII has been quoted 6750/- at blaupunkt store,
I've delayed the purchased and considering JBL GTO1004 in a couple of months.

Will you consider JBL GTO1004 more powerful than th Blau GT4MKII ?

Your sub enclosure looks good. Where did you get fibreglass done and how much?

GHPK: I got the Blau GTA4MKII in 5200 incl B/W!!

@AKi10: I hope you didn't put Illusions/Bulls blindly. You can tune things and set it up to play quite cleanly (and I'm running a GTO608c off a pio 5050 - as chan chan as it gets).

IMHO, most BHPians lazily advocate changing equipment at a monetary loss - when 80% odd can be improved by just better tuning. Not that I am good at it - but I've seen a decent bit so far and I think its manageable.

My 608c components costed 3800 gray, much more VFM anyday than Illusion/Bull at 6.5/7k respectively!

And yes, you have a lovely sub enclosure. super awesome - I would much rather leave the sub at home for enough boot space! What was the cost?

Its the sub from the JBL bass tube.Transferred to a custom FB pod.

@AKi10
Your car looks bright as JBL comps

phamilyman is right. You can always tune your speakers the way you want. There is a thread of iPlay's swift in which the harsh polks where tuned down to his likes and those who auditioned it also confirms it.
