You didnt try for DVD player (just an option to add LCD screen later ?)
yes, i just updated the same pics in this thread too.

i really miss the steering controls when driving but then, as you said, as long as the SQ is good, it doesnt matter. i have not enquired about the warranty though.

no, i really dont fancy LCD screens in my car because 99%, it me who drives the car & i wont be watching any DVD while driving! so no DVD players for my car.

hi anjan, its simply great. i have heard GZ compos in ramie's car which costed around 8000. this one is not that good but then if you consider the price, i am very much impressed. even at high volumes, the sound is crystal clear.

thanks buddy. in the third upgrade, i'll definetely not change the front compos. maybe a new amp is on my list. that will happen when i save enough Vit M!

hey guys, i am going in for the third upgrade for my scorpio (finally!). it should take place in a week or so. i am looking for a SPL setup. i need your suggestions. budget is 15k for the following-

i already have bought a JBL GT5-S644 amp which will replace the sony 4 ch amp, so this is not included in the budget.

1) i need to change the front Vtrek compos to something much better.
2) i have a JBL 1100W basstube, i plan to take out the subwoofer from the basstube & install it in a sealed or ported box. (i am tired of the bastube!)
3) if possible, change the rear sony co-axials to something better, though not necessary as it is not connected to the amp & barely audible!

so what will include in the budget is-
1) front compos- which one should i buy?
2) rear co-axials? only if it fits in my budget after all the installs.

please note that installation charges for the amp & charges for the custom built sub box will also be counted in 15k!

also, should i go for a sealed box or a ported box? i need a more audible bass with some thump in the cabin. the basstube right now is very audible but sometimes i feel it is very boomy & out of sync to the song, so much that in some songs i have to turn off the basstube!

i am ready to trade in my
1) sony 4 ch amp
2) vtrek compos (!!!)
3) the basstube box :-)
4) sony co-axials if i am replacing it!

Compos + rear + sub + fitting = 15k?

Front 6k
Rear 3-4k
Sub 3-6k
Box: 2k
Fitting:3-5k

I would suggest sealed. Make sure that the GT5-S644 can play in bridged mode.

NO!

it will be front + sub box + installation = 15k, in exchange of present front + sub box + amp.

as i said, i dont want a new sub, i just need a new sub box. also, rear co-axials are not necessary too.

i will sell the front comps + amp + sub box, hopefully i will get around Rs. 4000 (will i?!!). So budget goes to 15+4 = 19k. so split up should be something like-

sub box - i assume it will take around 3k to make a good sub box.
installation & labour charges- 1k (is that ok?!)

Cash left = 15k

so 2 options:

1) front compos = 10k & rear co-axials = 5k
2) front compos = 12k & good cables = 3k

now point is-

1) which front comp?
2) sealed or ported sub box for JBL 1100W sub?
3) which rear co-ax? (if at all i buy)
4) which cable?

i am not interested in damping.

Changed my car's amp today from Sony XM-ZR6042 to JBL GT5-S644.

We may sell the car in 2-3 months, so right now i have put the plans of installing illusion EL 6.1 comps & GZ 30T sub on hold.

50% chances. next would be a hatch, preferably a i20 or punto.

though i LOVE SUVs, i have realized that they are not the most comfortable in city traffic. also, they are not very "mod" friendly. my next car would be modded quite a bit like some good ICE, snazzy alloys, paint job & FFE. so it would be a hatch!

50% chances. no particular reason as such.

if i dont sell this car, in comes the illusions & ground zero!

yes, with the JBL, the difference is negligible, but nevertheless enjoyable!

Good news is that we are not selling our scorpio!

So meeting Ramie tomorrow. I want a custom made sub box which would fit exactly between my car's jump seats & not protrude to much towards the rear door so that the jump seats are usable & also enough space for luggage is available.

So upgrades planned are:

1) Ground Zero 30T sub in a sealed enclosure as stated above
Hermit Audio Pvt. Ltd.

2) Illusion EL 6.1 front components
Hermit Audio Pvt. Ltd.

3) New Wiring (maybe!)

Soothing to hear that you are not leaving the Scorpio family.Or else it would have been "Yeh Main Kya Sun Raha Hoon?' from me.
Do tell us more about the upgrades with pictures.

Raj, I'm using a 8" RF sub, in a sealed enclosure that sits exactly below the jump seat. Get sufficient bass with that. Check out my Sumo thread.

thanks a lot for the link buddy. but i think the 8" sub would be just about adequate for my needs, but i want something more. the bass should be high but i dont want it too hard hitting. that is exactly ramie's challenge, lol! i want a powerful sub with low budget & no space in my car!

that means, maximum bang for the buck!

Today was the final day of my final install. Met Ramie paaji & Amar at Sound Factor yesterday. discussed about the products & the subwoofer box.

My main concerns were-
1) i wanted SQ & not SPL, of course, in my budget.
2) the basstube eats too much on boot space requiring me to remove it everytime. the sub box should be small & should fit exactly between the jump seats.

then yesterday evening i called ramie again to ask him whether he can use leather cover on the sub box. he said its possible but the price put me off. i wanted a beige leather cover for the sub box instead of the black cloth, so that it matches with my car's beige interiors.

So, finally the following install was done today-

1) Illusion Audio EL 6.1 front components - 7490/-
2) Ground Zero 30T subwoofer - 8990/-
3) 1.1 cu. ft. sealed box - 650/-
4) 6 AWG Earthquake Wiring + Earthquake Fuse + Scosche RCA cables - 2700/-

Total : 19830/-

Labour & spacer ring charges extra.

My main concerns were how the Sub box would look. but surprisingly ramie covered the box in beige cloth instead of the normal black & i liked it.

Secondly & most importantly, how the illusions & sub would sound as i needed a SQ setup even if that means its not too loud. i was not too sure about the sub in a such a small sealed box in such a huge SUV.

but the illusions are damn sweet is what i can say! it does not play, it sings! they are the best compos i have heard.

the GZ sub rocks! i have a JBL S644 amp & it is not the most powerful amp around. but even with this amp, the small box & the large car, the bass was too much for me! i played with the HU settings to decrease the bass but even with the bass at the lowest setting, it was too tight & hard for me! then i had to ask ramie to lower the bass!

apart from these, the front compos have been shifted to the rear door. Ajju is a master in cutting door panels & he has flush mounted the speakers on the rear doors in such a way that it looks OE! (the scorpio does not come with speaker slots in the rear door). the entire wiring has been replaced by Scosche & Earthquake.

The job done was perfect & I am totally enjoying my car now. the sound from the compos is awesome & the bass is just perfect, just what i was expecting when i met ramie.

so now my final setup is-

Front comps : Illusion EL6.1
Rear compos : Vtrek
Sub : GZ 30T is a 1.1 cu. ft. sealed box
Amp : JBL GT5-S644
Wiring: Scosche RCA & Earthquake 6 Guage

a big thanks to Ramie, Amar, Munna bhai & Ajju... Pics follows-
