Panasonic CY PA2003U. Very nice amp. @XetaGLGRocks has it fitted in his car and is very happy with it.

Under $100 (shipping extra I think) on this site.
Hmm, the specs are good.
2ch drive 200W x 2
1ch drive 380W x 1
THD (1kHz) 0.02%
S/N Ratio (IHF,A) 95dB

I noticed that this is also available on Panasonic India website. Any idea of its price in India?

The Yeti God can maybe throw some gyan on it?

These are highly underrated and best Arc Audio are known for their great SQ. I would get these eyes closed.

I have no experience with Panasonic as a brand at all. So a bit wary of it, especially in car audio. But the above threads seem to suggest that its a good VFM amp. And the specs seem decent enough.

Im surprised why it is so expensive in India? If 2 years ago it was 9k, I am assuming the price might have gone up by now? Wont anybody buy a 4 channel amp even at that price point?

Why are 2 channel amps so weirdly priced in India?

The same amp is still selling for under $100 internationally.

Its because there is not a high demand for 2 channels in the market and hence they are brought in low quantities thus not able to distribute the duty and shipping over a large quantity.

Enquire about the prices. It might have gone down too. Ajay Bhai would tell you where to look at.

I am considering Panasonic CY PA2003U for powering my sub which is 600W RMS. Could you tell me whether this amp can run an DVC 4 ohm sub. If possible, what would be the RMS out in 2 ohm and how the connection would be?

It cannot be powered at 2 ohms i suppose.
Most amps when bridged play at a minimum impedance of 4 ohms.

And thats what I need! My sub is 4 ohms SVC. I dont think 2/1 ohms stability in bridged mode should be my concern.

Sadly, the Panasonic CYPA2003U is no longer available at the attractive price of $99. Hence, my choices are now diverted to the following:

1. Pioneer GM-5400T for $95 (GM5400T - NEW 09 PIONEER GM-5400T 2CH 760W CAR AMPLIFIER CAR AMP GM5400T - UGotADeal.com)
2. Kenwood KAC-7204 for $112 (KENWOOD KAC-7204 2-CH POWER AMPLIFIER 1000W MAX POWER - eBay (item 280368467442 end time Aug-06-09 10:37:38 PDT))

Which one do you suggest out of the two?

i would say grab a smaller 2 channel amp for your fronts and the panasonic for your sub. It'll be perfect.

Abhinav - you arent reading the thread properly, eh?

The Panny amp is only available at $217 which makes it unattractive.

I am planning to get a 2 channel for the sub, hence I need around 350+ wrms x 1 @4 ohms in bridged mode.

Then the 4 channel Blau can be used for the fronts and I can go active

Lol.
Why not the same RF amp which Frank Mehta was using?

It was 325 or something.

Where are you looking for the prices. Bad homework i must say.

The kenwood 7204 is Kinda overrated. I had read some test review somewhere on the web. It is rated at 500RMS under brigdemode, but will effectively do around 375-400RMS. It's availabe here for 9k will bill and warranty, grey prices should be less. IF you are looking to go the Kenwood why not buy it from here itself.

If you just looking for an amp to power your sub. Then you could also consider Alpine MRP M500, it's mono amp and there are great reviews on it all over. Don't think this is launched here.

Instead of Kenwood 7204 I would suggest you the kenwood KAC X20. This one has better build and better internals.

All are good ALpine, Clarion, Kenwood, mentioned here. Just take your pick.

Would have loved to get my hands on that amp. However, its nowhere to be found now. AFAIK, even when Frank bought, it was a discontinued model. Thats why he got it so cheap.

I did check out these 2 websites. But if you look closely, its already 'Out of Stock' at Etronics.

And the first website i.e. universallcd doesnt seem to be very popular (read - not too trustworthy?)

It is also available for
- $118 (Volume Stereos | Car Stereos | Pioneer Kenwood Uniden :: Panasonic CY-PA2003U 2-channel 1200W Amplifier)
- $106 (www.FixThisRide.com - "AMPLIFIER")
- $98 (PANASONIC CYPA2003U 1200W 2-Channel power Amplifier - CYPA2003U)

with shipping and packing, it comes to around $125-130 at all these websites.

But then again, I have never heard of these websites, so I dont know how trustworthy would it be to shop from here.

Abhishek, my priorities (and hence budget) has changed since our last conversation. I am also getting a few other things through my friend. So I want to purchase the cheapest VFM 2 channel out there. Thats what I am scouting for a 2 channel under $125, but which gives me around 350-400 watts RMS x 2 @ 4 ohms.

Mono is ruled out right now. So is a powerful 4 channel.

In that case go in for the Kenwood KAC X20. Plenty of power, Good specs, comes with 30Ax2 fuse compared to single 40A in 7204, better SNR, Don't think anything can get better than this.

Kenwood Excelon KAC-X20 2-Channel Amplifier at BizRate

You might get one at good price on ebay.com as well.
