Suggestions for audio upgrade of 2.2 l safari

i would like to upgrade the audio in my 2.2 safari. the oe blaupunkt went kaput 2 times, so may not last long.

I have the following with me lying idle.. One Sony Z554, One JBL GT5 A402, One 1000W JBL GT-Series boxed Subwoofer (model number i dont know) .

I would also like to change the stock speakers on the front and rear doors, without modifying the doorpads.

Please suggest a set up which should include the stuff I already have, plus front components, rear coaxials and a new head unit.

My requirements for the head unit are .. Front USB, Front Aux in, 3 Pre Outs, Sub control and if possible steering remote as accessory (not really necessary). Budget for the HU should be with in 9K.

Install location will most probably be Cochin.

Is damping really necessary for safari ? can it be done in Cochin ?

Thankyou

Sun, I would suggest getting the damping job done as it makes a huge difference. If you will be in cochin coming sunday, you are welcome to check out my car.It made considerable difference and i am still running stock speakers. The job was done by galaxy cochin. They are distributers of Dynamat xtreme and hence can source the material cheaper. It cost me 6.5K for 4 doors alone. But in case you have a subwoofer get the tail gate also done.Closed cell foam can be used along with Dynamat to shield engine noise to an extend.Closed cell foam is cheap.Similarly it can be used under your hood to improve the sound insulation. The whole process would take about 2 and a half hours.

But stock speakers are crap and they need replacement. They do not look like components to me and are unbranded.A component will have a crossover circuitry right?I cannot locate it.They are just a normal speaker and a tweeter connected. Please correct me if i am wrong....

Use the Sony Z554 to power the front compos and the rear coaxes. JBL GT5 A402 to power the sub in bridged mode.

As far as HUs, here is the list.
Pioneer DEH-P7150UB
Pioneer DEH-P5190UB
Kenwood KDC-MP6539U (If you can source one)
Clarion DXZ785USB (If you can have anyone carry it for you from the US)

Front components can be Bull, Blaupunkt, Polk, MTX etc according to your listening preference.

Please let us know the budget you have for the entire upgrade.

Thankyou for the offer, but I will be @ cochin on Tuesday only, Sunday no shops will be open. Can you give me the location of Galaxy cochin ?

You are correct, I have seen the doorpads open, couldnt find any crossover there.

I was thinking along the same lines too.

which do you think will be better, the 7150 or 5190 ?

Are there any Alpine HU with similar features ?

Well, I got my setup done and running

HU Alpine 9884E
MB Quart Components Front
MB Quart Coaxial Rear
Sony 554Z powering the MB Quart's
JBL GT5 A402 powering the JBL 1000 Watts Woofer

Installation was at Emperor Cochin, took about 9 hours

Sounds great.

Individual prices will be difficult to discern as the price was decided upon as a 'package' .. after a little bargain, of course

Pics, I am thinking of starting a gallery, so it will be there. Though there is nothing to see, as all speakers are in their original positions, only the tweeters are the give away. Audition, any time you desire..
