And the box volume is 17 x 17 x 13 which make the internal volume to be 44.9 liters. In which we will have to deduct the port volume and the sub displacement which will come to nearly to volume jb has asked.......

Also the port should me on the speaker side but in some situations port can be on the different side also.......

If any doubt please ask.......
You are comparing two different cars :

In Vega which is Lancer the subs are ES380 in 2cuft box. We used the ports in the top pf the box to get immediate bass inside the cabin. I very well know the placement of the ports, we do different things according to the customers needs.

Also there was no space for 3inch port on the subwoofer mounting baffle because of amplifier rack. Sometimes picture don't state the real situation of the installation. And because of constraints of space in car audio you cannot follow the so called theoretical explainations.

In Octavia its different subwoofers HXS380D (SPL Subwoofers) in 1.5 cuft enclosure. And the location where ports are installed in the boxes that was the only place where they could be installed. There is nothing like you cannot install the ports in corner, you can very well do that if you know how to calculate the specs, I happen to know them

Sir can u please enlighten me about how to calculate the major parameters while design a ported enclousre For eg volume, ported dia and port lenght, port location........

Also I am not pointing out a mistake, I am just asking why did u installed the port on the sub face side not the top or any other side. There must be some reason about it can u please share it with other people on this fourm.........

Ref: Mehul and Yohan. I am not commit my opinion! :-)

Ref: KBs system: KB a 6k component wont get the best out of your Tru Tech amp. I would suggest Infnity Perfect, Hertz Mille, Focal, ScanSpeak, etc..

I would think JB and Gun distribute Mille. I have not heard them yet but I saw pics/catalog and I have a fair idea of what should atleast sound good.

I would say the Mille midbass is about the auto equivalent of the lesser ScanSpeak Revelator midbass. A lot of the technology developed by SS in the late 80s early 90s is deployed in the Mille. I think a google on SS's SD1 motor will tell more.

If B&T is following this thread...I'd like to see a midbass with a edge wound voicecoil, copper shroting ring, vented pole piece, NdFeb magnet system with the coil outside the magnet system coil dia = 1/2 cone dia, single spider till 6" and dual spider for 8"+, Butyl half roll high damping surround, cast or moulded frame, etc...
