Dont get so worried. There is little exposure to moisture there. However if you are concerned have them apply primer on the holes before screwing the driver in place.

Recently i have installed a sony mex-r1 dvd player in my esteem, didn't bother to change my old pioneer speakers 6935 (i think). i also added a 4 ch Sony Amp. As much as i do enjoy the sound, i am disappointed that the front speakers do not produce half the quality of the rear, therefore i have to adjust the fader, making the rear speakers as the main speakers. another problem with this is that people sitting at the back, especially the wife doesn't like the music to be loud. is there a solution to my problem. can i fit component speakers in the front. i already have a set of sony tweeters fixed on the shade band in the windscreen. please advice..

dump the tweeters and get a compo for teh frnt. Set the fader in the HU.

Kindly install 4" coaxial speaker from Imagedynamics and remove the sony tweeters. This will improve your front staging.

No, i don't agree there. He could put a 4" speaker from kingdom come and that's not what he's looking for. The location of the 4" in the new esteem is rubbish. Let's start with one basic question - what's your budget?

If you can spend between 5 to 6K, get a 6" component set. Get mounting rings, mount the 6" mid bass in the front doors. Mount the tweeter near the A pillar. Disconnect the 4" speakers and you will have fuller richer sound.

Request Tool to put up his esteem front door pics. Done quite well with 6.5comps installed.

Yeah... Crazy is just stuck in my head and I cant get it out... Been listening to their album "St. Elsewhere" past few days and it is a bit different from what you'd expect. Gnarles Barkley is basically the result of the creative talents of old skool rapper/singer Cee-Lo and DJ Danger Mouse (of Gorillaz Demon Days production fame)... Very tight production, short songs, a very very funky sound that defies pigeonholing. Get the album, though the rest of it is a bit different from "Crazy". I think you will like it... Or you can go for a 3 way using the 4" dash mounted components from 150hz on up and a 6" woofer in the door to manage 30-200Hz.

Navin, do you remember me mentioning the 4" midrange driver with a rear chamber? Wouldn't that be a good driver for use in such applications since the baffle is incomplete, where the 6" can take care of bass-midbass, and the 4" does just the mid frequencies, and hands over to a dash/ pillar mount tweeter for the highs?

well given that you are expecting the midrange to go as low as 150-200Hz a cone midrange would be your best option. I know only two dome mids that can go so low and both might be discontinued (even when they were in production they were frightfully expensive).

i can spend 5-6ks if i can be assured that my sound quality will improve in the front and i can balance the fader in the centre. can i continue to have my tweeters on or should i discard them for the ones that come with the compo ???

Please discard them. Use only the ones that come with the component set.
