Absolutely. Remember to use the HPF at about 100-120hz

Navin, can you suggest me good rear speakers for my HU (pioneer DEH-2950MP) ?

when i inquired in a shop, they say its no use going for speakers like JBL P552 or Pioneer E1396. and they said even if i do go for it, i have to get an amp.

please advise.

.
To help you decide what rear speakers, we need to know
1) What front speakers?
2) What car?
3) System details (any amps, subs?)
4) Future plans
5) What budget.

Car - Santro XL
HU - Pioneer DEH 2950MP
Front Speakers - Pioneer TS-G1011R
No amps and no subs
need help to decide about rear speakers
Budget - Around Rs 5000

I am also planning to install a 60 litre LPG gas Tank in the boot, so not much space there.

Now please suggest me a good rear speaker. both make and model.

With your combination harshavarthan within 5K I guess the JBL GTO937 will be the best bet.

These are 6X9 ovals. there are 2 ways to install this in the santro. place them in boxes fixed to the side wall of the boot. that way you still have space to put the lpg tank below the speakers.

the other way is to place them on a mdf parcel shelf at the rear. this will also allow you to place the tank but if you have any bags which are tall they will not fit above the tank.

I fear that while listening to slightly higher volumes (for getting better front sound stage I have faders favouring slightly to front) the front speakers might start clipping.
I belive putting a small amp for front should solve this problem & also improve the SQ.
On a budget (3K) the 552 will do nicely. for 2K more you can get the 554. For about 7K you can get the JBL 60.2.

Now about the "clipping". that happens becuase your front speakers cant handle the bass (not the power). So any amp with a HPF will work. Why even a simple passive bass blocker (just a couple of capacitors) will work too. You can DIY you own bass blockers for under Rs. 100.

the next question will be how to make them....

use the required capacitor for the required cut-off freq.....

like for a 100 hz cut off use a 400 MFD capacitor....if the electrolyte model is used....connect two 200 MFD with there negative ends and connect it between the speaker and the amp....

Thanks Guys

@Sam: Thanks for the advise but am afraid the 552 doesn't come with HPF My HU has HPF at 50,80 & 125Hz But using it from HU will put the HPF for rears as well right? Btw am currently running HPF at 125hz

@Navin: Thanks, any reason why you suggest another 554 when I already have a 554 which is a 4 channel amp? As about building myself a bass blocker hehe am not so electronically litrate.

@LBM: Thanks for the diagram although beling not so technical I cant understand much of it :|

Btw if I take the diagram once posted by Sam & again here by LBM to an electronics shop guy will he be able to make it?

Also will just putting this bass blocker eliminate the need for amp ?

The amp will elimiate the need for the bass blocker. the bass blocker CAN eliminate the need for an amp is the volumes you are playing at are not too loud.

the 554 is only 2K more than the 552 and will match your existing 554 besides you can bridge the 554 to give your front speakers some real power.

Hi,

I have a Sony CDX-GT460U HU. I want to know about Carphone and if my HU is compatible with it. While on my recent trip to UK, I found my uncle using his mobile phone and the callers voice was coming through the car speakers. Also, the music got to mute whenever he was making a call. When I asked him, he said it was fitted as an OEM in his Merc.

Do we get such utilities in India, without a Bluetooth enabled HU.

Stick a 1 or 2.2 uf poly cap (CTR makes nice ones) in parallel with both those caps. It will help the intelligibility of the XO.
