help requird by me..
recently a friend was transfered abroad and he gave me his kicker ds 600.2 component speakers.i have a santro and had blau gto's 4" in dash. I also have a 4channel amp (blau GTA4 Special MK II).
Please help me with the gain setings for the amplifier. Also would be planning to go for a sub a bit later. So how to drive it? A seperate monoblock perhaps?
And yeah how are the kicker comps?

True and honest. I had never imagined that I would be happy with the existing setup(speakers). Only complain were the speakers that I had. Today I tuned them for some bass and still the output is smooth( need not pusch the vol, the output is warm and complete and low volumes=pleasure. I really now understood the importance of tuning the amps to your taste.

Thanks again Sam, I will stay with my current speakers for a while and enjoy them and try to squeeze out the best possible from them :) .

You have opened a can of worms. Bose is not considered very good quality by many. THere is better, much better available.

that said for 30-40K you can get a very nice system.

The Fusion has odd sized speaker slots (6x8) for the front and rear. So your choices are either to get your installer to make a custom baffle for a 6" or to use 6x8" speakers (limited selection).

I would spend 8K on wires and damping and 32K on a HU, Amp and speakers BTW are you willing to sacrifice trunck space for a sub? What kind of music do you listen to? How loud?

sample budgets. The gurus will chip in with model numbers.

HU: 8K
Amp: 11K
Front and rear coax speakers: 7K
Sub: 6K
Damping front doors and hatch: 6K

Zak! That post looks like a Hertz Advertisement! That too without prices. For what I can tell you did not cover damping, wires or install and still overshot the budget by a fair bit.

Vanchi, in your budget good HUs to listen to are Pioneer, Blaupunkt Kenwood, Clarion and the base Alpines

Speakers: Hertz, JBL, Blaupunkt, and Infinty.

If it is was me I would take a Alpine HU, JBL 4060 amp and Infinty speakers but I would suggest you listen to Hertz Energy and Blau Thx as well. besides only JBL and Blaupunkt have 6x8" speakers that I know of.

You just follow the connection markings on the 60.4. There is no physical switch to bridge, you just connect the speaker wire a little differently.

Almost the same setting as the 300.1, however, the 300.1 has a permanent LPF on, hence no switch. You will have to put the switch to LPF and then select a frequency.

The advantage of using a 5.25 co-ax in the rear pod is that due to the angle of the glass on the notchback, you can actually hear some of the reflected highs upfront.
I'd say, 6" compos front, 5.25 high power coaxs in the rear and some enclosed sub. Tube or box, depending on the kind of sound you like. I actually have some Killer photos of one of our Octavias. But no clue how to show you these.

What do you suggest for my palio nv 1.2. I have 2 speaker slots (somewhat oval) in the front doors and the very like at the back. The car came with the cardboard tray at the back. i would not like to spent more than 12 K and prefer speakers at the back only.

I listen ti hindi /punjabi and soft rock most of the times. which car audio brand do you suggest.

All brands are good. As long as they a look, sound and feel good to you and you can afford them.

HU's from Clarion, Panasonic, Blaupunkt, Alpine, Pioneer (everyone's favourite), JVC and Sony are good.
Sony features last on the list of preferred speakers. Not too popular in quality HU's too.

Generally specialist companies like Polk, Boston, Illusion and many, many more make better speakers than the brands listed above. If you can afford a specialty speaker, nothing like it.

There are many specialty brands, that are constantly being discussed in this section. Do a bit of reading.
