6500/- for the GTO607c (2-way 6.5" Comps) :)
Nice pricing on the CS2165c, Sam!
Wow! That means if somebody wants a music system and has only a budget under 10k, can have a decent HU, front comps, rear coaxials without overshooting the budget.
This is what makes JBL so popular.
Full marks Sam!
and if more tight on budget get them for grey and the 10k budget will also accommodates the 6x9 also.
on the other note..
Sam, was that you I just saw your programme on CNBC awaaz shopping guide
( i recognized your logo on the verna, silver colored) best deals on car audio systems.
The ICE configurations on red lancer, silver verna and the CRV on the show were really awsome especially the band pass thing on crv...

LBM, you don't get the CS components in the grey market. And don't get me wrong baba, but the grey market hurts the very car audio industry you seem to love.
It exists, I know, but surely sending everyone down that grey market path every time cannot be the right thing to do.
how tough is it to install component speakers ? are there any settings on the crossover that can be tweaked and also will typical plug and play installers be able to handle it ? or is it best left to proper experts (which i have to say are a bit hard to find!)

It's not normally difficult to install a component set. Sure, it's a bit more than installing coaxial speakers. But even you can understand the connection quite easily.
The crossover has 3 pairs of terminals.
- From the amplifier or Head Unit
- To the mid-woofer
- To the tweeter
All you need to do is connect it with the right polarity, mount the tweeter and Mid-woofer and the crossover.
While most crossovers in this category are passive, some companies like JBL offer a user setting inside. usually a switch, or a jumper (like a computer motherboard jumper)
Can you please let me know hertz / infinity speakers availability in Chennai?
Gurus!!! HELP!! please:
Today while listening to my ICE, suddenly the bass went off. Stopped the car, checked for fuses. Not blown. Tightened all wiring - no hope. Sub wouldnt work. Then while playing the ICE, I touched the woofer cone to check for any vibrations and suddenly it started working. But there is notable distortion which was not present earlier.
What could be wrong? I dont listen loud. Volume is medium, eq setting is flat. The ICE is almost 3 yrs old.
Amp - Sony XM502Z
Sub - JBL CS1200B
Another question - how much heat tolerable are speakers and sub woofers?

your woofer tinsel wire are gone. As you pushed the sub the circuit was complete and it worked. I think Repairing the sub would help..

Is it normal for the tinsel wires to break?
Does high heat built up in boot accelerate the damage?

Depend on the usage :)
I don't think so ;)

car speakers are designed to withstand that enviroment. do you dive your car hard. maybe some mechanical shock broke the tinsel leads (if that is indeed what happened).
do you have a simple voltmeter or even a battery.
If you have a simple battery connect the battery to the sub (momentairly) and see if the cone moves. +ve to +ve should make the cone move out, +ve to -ve the cone will move in. outward motion is more easily detectable.
if this works then slowly push the dust cap (I assume the sub uses a stiff dustcap). when the cone moves see if the movement is smooth. not like something is scraping inside.
let us know what happens monday.

I looked around the 507's crossover and there weren't any jumper switches.
