The 944 amp is a damn powerful amp... My friend drives a pio 304C sub and the sub seems to have taken a lot and has very little life left now.If the 944 amp is matched with a good..very good subwoofer, it'll work wonders!!.

agree with nitrous the 944 is an amazing amp...consider it to be the best model by PIONEER...the 924 aint bad either but 944 is the best...5k is a steal in bangalore a secondhand 944 will go for 8-10k

Go ahead Karthik, thats a damn good price for that amp. You can comfortably run all speakers and subs required in a car from that one amp!

Whether the 944 is a great amp or not would be pretty much subject to what you want to drive using it. It's good for subs, especially of the SPL variety. I don't vouch for any SQ capabilities driving good quality speakers. It sure is a powerhouse, and can successfully drive 2-ohm loads from it's bridged output without inducing the protection mode. That, in my opinion is it's meanest achievement.

At the price, you better ensure the amp hasn't been tinkered with.

Being a Class AB mosfet based design. Pioneer 944 is a good amplifier. And 75X2 for speakers and 250W (Bridged in 4Ohms) for subwoofer is a decent power. It will give you good SQ for that money with SPL too.

Though there are lot better amplifiers available (at a cost) and only upgrading your amplifier will not help, you need to upgrade source, cabling, speakers etc to get good overall results. Not to forget good installation.
