amplifier stops working when vol increased! light blinking!

Respected guru's,
Today when i tried to increase my systems volume above 10 my amplifier suddenly stopped working and a red light started blinking on it. I gave some rest to my amp and it started working again, but again when i increased the vol, it stopped working. it had happened before also and that time i reduced the source volume to "0" and it started working after a small rest. there are times when i had increased the volume above "32" and it worked perfect.
my amplifier is a pioneer gm-x374. friends/guru's, what could be the possible reason? when exactly is that light on the amp supposed to blink ?
but resumes working after a while.

Lower your gains

Refer to this thread:

Else take it to a professional (guy who did the install). Simple solution to a simple problem.

yea, but hows it getting heated up in less than 2 mins? there are times when it works for hours at very high volume. gain settings for one pair of channel is at normal which powers the sub other channel powers the coaxials which is kept at a higher gain.
what could be the possible reason for overheating?
