ICE Competition - Thrissur

ICE enthusiasts take note. The Valence '09 techfest, scheduled for the 4th week of November, is planning to conduct an ICE competition. The location is in Jyothi Hills, Thrissur, Kerala. All those guys who think they can make the trip please post here with a pic of your car.

Sponsors, and Judges are just being worked on. And as always, suggestions are welcome! =)

That's what we intend to do, but finally everything depends on the instruments that we manage to get. I've just started contacting installers who might have the inclination to take part in this.

Pay for travel & accommodation and I'm sure one of the renowned installers on this forum would oblige.

Who dat ? Excuse my ignorance, but I'm not that much into ICE and don't know any of the Dudes of the game here. Infact "muneemk" is the Guru whom i usually go to, but now he's flown out of the country :(

The dates are on the 23rd and 24th of November, that's 3 weeks from now. If you can get your buddies to come I could provide food&accomodation courtesy the organisers. The prize money is currently at INR 8888. Need to get hold of some more sponsors for this, wonder if any installers would be interested.

The website is at Valence '09

Would an instrument like this take care of the judging part or do i need to stick to the idea of getting a experienced judge?

In my opinion you wont be able to get proper readings with the specified instrument. The best would be to get hold of some Ice guru who has some professional measuring instrument with him like the Term-lab.
You can even buy it if you wish-
WHE Inc Storefront
The only thing is that its a bit exp

An SPL meter is only required if one of the events in the competition is SPL. And even for that, the Scosche meter is inadequate since 135dB could be crossed by many participants. It is not necessary to have Term Labs SPL meter only, that is just one that is standard for dB Drag. Any other meter capable of measuring upto 150-155dB should be fine. Very rarely will anyone hit over 150dB at the dash.

For SQ, best to get someone with good ears and with nothing to have to do with any of the contestants since in a subjective test it would be easy to be biased.
