So KoW is my short name in T-BHP from now huh, good
Now coming to your questions,
I am fedup with my sony HU,I regret getting it for my ride. so anything better than that will surely make me happy, it helps me kill time when i go out with my parents for shopping and other places where i keep waiting for hours together in my car.(I personally hate shopping)

It looks great man, you are setting up inspirations for people interested in carputer.

I too have a Intel Atom D945GCLF lying idle and i might go for the carputer when i have option to get a good touch screen and the AMP + power supply.

I am fed up with my sony HU too, i've operated it and now its only FM tuner, the cd doesn't work anymore and iam in no mode to repair it.
I would need to Buy a 4ch. Amp before i start the carputer Kida (insect) again in my head.
I was about to purchase a new head unit yesterday kenwood MP443U but the deal didn't went on good discount, and i came back.

I am surprised you are able to run GTA IV on ATOM ???? what settings you play it on ? I recently purchased core2duo@2.93Ghz with 4GB ram + 9400GT video card just to enjoy few games and forget the lags atom used to give on few applications i use regularly.

I am now again inclined towards carputer after seeing your thread.

I may be wrong but is this First Maruti 800 to have a carputer ?

Edit: Congrats again man.

And lastly, we are still waiting for the pics of following.
1). pic of your CPU residing under passenger seat.
2). pic of windscreen from outside the car to see how much the LCD is visible.
3). few pics of wires, how and from where you have run those wires, what wires were used to power up the LCD.

@ above : thank you for the compliments guys
@ghpk : GTA runs pretty well, Doesn't show any lag at all. ATOM was able to handle taking an image of a dvd + browsing iexplore at a time, i was surprised loking at the capability of an ATOM. My old p4 system use to show me stars when it is forced to do multi tasking.
Yeah, mine is the first M800 with a carputer installed in it
And regarding the pics of my cpu installed in my ride, That will be the first thing to do in the morning tomorrow, Pic of the windshield is of no use, you wont be able to see anything from front as it is tinted with 20% visibility.

Not really, there is enough space for the air to circulate and I never run my car without turning on my AC so it doesnt really get heated.

thanks for the pics "KMW"
i think you have two internal fans on your CPU Cabinet so I am sure your cpu remains cools, Atom however generates less heats.

your windscreen may be 20% tinted and 80% visibility, you wrote "20% visibility" which is incorrect and you won't be able to drive if it was so dark.

I think I'll fetch some smaller cabinet before i try carputer in my car, I think getting a cabitnet cut in half of its width would help but will need proper cutters to use on such thick metal sheets, will check if some fabricator can help.

@ghpk : Atom hardly generates any heat, I used the carputer for some 4hours continuously and when i opened the cabinet, I could feel very less heat generated in the cabin.
I'm not wrong with the windshield, IT is tinted wiht 20% visibility, Check the following image, you'll know

I think there's one one USB Port which support High Speed and not all.
something to do with warning "this device can perform faster"
I used different ports but sometimes it works well and some times it doesn't, Im unable to findout whats the problem with it.

To get the most out of his carputer, KoW can drive on hunt for unprotected WiFi networks to download movies, music or games off the net.

Jokes a part. That is some serious enthusiasm, spending money, efforts and resources on an M800. Congratulations mate. Have safe "fun-on-the-wheels".

@punzabi : I already have an unprotected wi-fi network at home and there many places around hyderabad where we can find unprotected wi-fi signals. So free downloads all the time
