Sub & Amp for Captiva

Guys, a friend of mine is thinking of getting a captiva and wants to install a sub and amp in it, the query is that he isnt replacing the HU so either the stock HU has pre-outs or we use a line out converter in either case how is the remote turn on cable to be connected?
Is splicing a +12v ignition wire behind the HU only option?
Whats the correct way o doing it?
Any help would be appreciated, Thanks.

I fixed an amp and sub to my stock HU of the Xylo today. There was an output. So i think the Captiva should have one too.

Tell him to go to a good installer.
If he doesn't want to replace the stock hu, then either a processor or a line-in convertor is the only solution i can see.
