Great Move by Pioneer but bad pricing. Why-o-Why

It isnt the other features.
It is the sound which matters the most. And p99RS will surely be a killer sounding HU.

A P90 Combo costs close to 70K in India and hence a next gen model would obviously have to be more than that.

It surely is in a different league
Your 7200, 785USB, 9887, p80RS all have 3 preouts this one has 4 preouts - When going fully active with 3-ways upfront, this is an awesome feature

Also, your HX-D2 doesn't play mp3's i guess (i know it doesn't have a USB slot and things like that) -and it does cost more than 50 grand - even if you get from US

Not in stock in Singapore last time I checked.

You can't compare even the Alpine 9887 or the Eclipse 7200 with the Clarion 785, let alone the P99RS. Although I haven't ever heard a set, I'm sure it must be superb. And it's more feature packed than everything else we named.

This move by Pioneer is like VW selling the Phaeton in India.
Flagship product is very good for the brand value.

Really, I never understood the marketing strategy of Pioneer India. I agree that it is a premium brand for normal users or not so serious audiophiles. But I was expecting that they would launch DEH-P88RS and DEH-P88RS-II which are also from Reference Series of Pioneer. They would have found much more number of buyers. I think they are looking at the margins rather than the volumes.

What do you think a P-88 RS would cost here with bill and warranty?
I reckon something around 35K. I don't see much market for copper chassis, audiophile HU that costs as much.
Now, there's little to no market for a 85 grand HU. But, its just a way for Pioneer to show off their top of the range.

I totally love the 5250 head unit. Looks totally cool and it has got all features.
The only feature missing might be the music browser .
I would love the gurus to comment on the same on the same head unit and hear their reviews.

I don't think the pioneer has a browser feature. Even in the pioneer website it says it has no got the music search option. Can you please reconfirm ?
I'm a total noob when it comes to head units and audio. Is the music search different from browser ?

I got that same one from Autoworld (JC Road) today. I got it clubbed with Sunfilm so really cant tell you how much is the effective cost after I did some bargain, but you can definately get some 200-400 cheaper on that 6800/- what they were quoting.
You can give my reference to Hadi (not sure if I got that name right) or Imaran (I got it for my Palio) if you go before they forget my name , I have bought it today itself.

He can also offer a lil diff series, he claimed that its same thing but without bill / warranty, that will be cheaper by 1.8-2K.

I was looking for a basic USB player, and knowing Pioneer would be a good, rouged choice, I traded my old Pio system with this. Yes, it has got search feature, I just tried that. I'm yet to find out more features (I know there arent many).
