Hey Evo... You have to remove the plastic mounts and then install a cutom ring fabricated out of mdf. Here are some pics from one of our installs... hope this helps

Did u do the change or was it done in your car ..
Were the components integrated with the stock system or was there upgrade in the head unit and the amp ...

Not my car man... one of the many merc installs we've done. In this particular car, stock system's speaker output converted to high-level (RCA) through converter, then into an amplifier and then onto the speakers.

Whether we retain the stock HU, or interface is really depends on the owners preference. 99% of people dont want to change their integrated HUs and so we have low~high interfaces. With a good quality interface, you can get very nice sound

We can even do very high level integration into the Mercedes / Porsche / Audi digital bus as we have the digital interface as well. Its very expensive but enables aux source inputs and complete 5.1 surround sound input (from aftermarket dvd changer and decoder like... Pioneer). Then volume, source etc can be controlled from the stock HU. It is very expensive though.
