Hi,

I just want to change the speakers (an Amplifier is fine) for my Scorpio VLX 2009. I do not want to change the OE head unit (Nippon) since I will loose Steering Audio controls or invest more to retain it.
I mainly listen POP songs and no heavy rock or metal etc.

I would like to spend not more than 20K, any recommendation for speakers, since I believe changing speakers should increase the quality if not to great?

hi benny, sorry for the delay in reply.

let me be very frank with you. the OE HU in the scorpio is crappy & even if you install speakers worth 50k with that HU, its useless. trust me on that, even i have a VLX.

so please first change the HU to atleast pioneer, you wont miss the steering controls after a few weeks, i dont!

install front compos from JBL or illusion or ground zero & rear co-axials from JBL. buy a good 4 channel amp to power the speakers.

since you dont need a sub, these will easily fit in your budget.

HU: 8000
front compos: 4000 (JBL)
rear co-ax: 4000
amp:6000
all prices approximate.

Thanks Raj for this good suggestion. I understand I need to give up steering controls to get better music..sigh!
I also have a question on Amp cum subwoofer (active subwoofer) Xenos looks thin and should be space saving. Is this advisable?

Thanks,

I would recommend you get a Pioneer HU(the **90 series) with a steering mountable remote - a lot of guys have got this and are mighty pleased

Since you have invested so much of cash in the high end model VLx,please go for a good amp-sub combo.Xenos is budget stuff, good but there are better things for a little extra

I suggest you go for a good set of Components up front and coaxes for the rear.

You can get the amp and sub later.

ICE is something you should not hurry through - I have learnt it the hard way

i agree with vigsom. go for a good amp-sub combo & you will be pleased, also in the longer run, you dont need to look for many upgrades.

buy once but buy the best you can afford at the time.

We don't change houses so soon, neither do we change cars.

But our ears get used to SQ so soon that we have a tendency to look at an upgrade.

It is here that we must hold our horses

I perfectly understand both our your advice. I shouldn't waste money on something quickly.
I would rather do some research, update here, get suggestions and finally settle with your expert advice.
I need to wait for couple of months for a better budget.

BTW, One thing which is annoying me is the sound is audible from outside. Is there a way to provide better insulation to the door to reduce the noise others here outside. I am not that type of guy who wants to make people jerking outside. Is it something can be done at the A.S.S only?

:Shockked::confused: You really don't mean that, do you? You go ahead and enjoy music, don't bother about what people are doing outside!!!

Some amount of the sound *will* be audible outside always, no matter what you do to the doors and windows (and you can't do anything to windows really). Yes, sound insulation on the doors will help to some extent. One has to play at a moderate volume and keep windows closed. The sub thump might be moderately audible outside if windows are closed, but it will not be severely disturbing for people outside.

ok, Its time to update.

I have finally replaced the stock ICE with the following couple of months ago.

JVC KW-XR610
Lightning audio LA-143 4" 3-Way Full-Range Speaker - 4 numbers
Amplifier -Lightning audio LA-2000MD 2,000 Watt Mono Digital
Pioneer Twitters - 2

Total cost: Rs. 45000/- :-( exceeded much.

Result:

1. Very good audio, satisfied the result
2. A strange issing noise is audible from the twitter. It was controlled in the right side. Audible when I use only blue tooth head sets (Front BT)
3. Lost steering controls
4. Had to spend 3000/- extra for a front speakers for the Voice assist system (Kept it under the seats.)

Now I need some recommendations:

1. How to get the steering controls back? I added one IR based Chinese adapter, which started giving problems. (Automatic sudden increase in sound)
2. Looking for the smallest possible subwoofer, which should not take space. Any recommendations?
3. I need a LCD with DVD, USB, MicroSD - I prefer head mount - NOT dash mountable or mountable at the rear view mirror.

Any suggestions friends?

Thanks,

Just a 100% extra :D Happens.

Which sub did you get?

And I too would like to know how it can be integrated :)

Das, I didn't get your question. Do you mean subwoofer? If Yes. I am yet to get one and I need recommendation, see my post for my requirements. :-)

Don't go for JBL ,try illusion or DLS .Try this if like to have SQ in your system . Do some independent research before finalizing , it will be better than going for JBL as per audio 'gurus' s' advice .

Hi benny, any reason for not going for components & installing lighting audio speakers & pio tweeters. in your case, i suspect there would be a crossover to adjust the frequencies.

can you tell me what have you done with the extra speaker for the VAS? what i did in my car was leave the front stock wiring untouched & upgraded all the remaining wiring. so my VAS works.
