[quote=deepfusion;1693835]Ok.
So, should I go in for 5X7 or 6X8 in the rear doors powered by the HU?

How can the doors accomodate 5X7 or 6X8 speakers? I would suggest to fit a 6" or 6.5" coaxial in the rear doors which can be powered through the headunit.

Okay. I would try kenwood one way coaxials that have been lying idle with me.

Lets see what happens.

JBL (8627/8628). I suppose theses have slots that could fit these into 5X7 slots.

How many speakers do u have lying idle with you?? Since you have JBLs in front, stick to JBLs at the rear also. I do not know what the JBL 8627/8628 are!! But you can look at the JBL GT5-S265 2-way speakers for the rear. They are 6".

Yesterday, I tried to manipulate the sound.

I tried the following:

1. I made adjustments to the crossover of the components to +3 db to lighten up the sound.

Results: Okay.

2. I installed Kenwood 5.25" flush mounted one way speakers in place of the stock speakers, with 200uF capacitors (series) and adjusted the balance to 0:0 for rear and front.

Results: The sound seems to be bright and soundstage formed.

3. Made adjustments to the crossover on the HU.

Results: Good.

4. Removed the Kenwood and re-installed stocks with the capacitors in place.

Result: Better sound.

Observations: The sound seems to lack depth now.

Request: Any modifications to bring depth to the sound

Please suggest any more possible modifications/alterations/adjustments to the current setup for depth in the sound.

You are reaching limits of adjustability of your current system.

One possibility is slightly changing tweeter direction to see what improvement you get. Midbass will be extremely difficult to align that way.

The ultimate method is using Time Alignment at the HU - not possible with your HU.

1. Damped doors?
2. If your HU has a EQ at about 60-70Hz push this to +1 or +2db. Mind you this will limit the max SPL of the system but atleast at lwer levels you will get the balnace you like,
3. If you dont have an amp, add an amplifier.

I already have adjusted the tweeters to face the head rests of the front seats.

1. I have not got the doors dampened so far.

2. The current settings are:
Low 40 Hz: Q2W
Mid 1KHz: Q1N or Q1W
High 10 KHz: Q1W

3. I have a two channel amplifier.

Hi!

My accessory wallah has, for trial, put in a 4 ch. sound barrier amp. (in all probability, local). He has removed the 2 ch. amp.

The effect on sound:

The highs have become more on the shrill side.

The lows have deepened.

Clarity in vocals (over previous)

What do you suggest?

These kind of amps have only one setting Gain: Full; Bass/Treble: Full; Xcrossover (if present): Doesnt work (try it!)

Distortion: Free of cost (oops! no.. amp's price )

If you HU has an EQ at about 3-5K drop it down -1db it will take the edge off.

My problem is time. I dont have much of it, even on sundays.

My accessorywallah takes the car and does his stuff and this is it.

But, this arrangement is purely temporary, as in any case, the amp has to b changed to a branded one. I m waiting for some free time when I can get it done.

But should this amp work?

The accessories guy is all praises for this amp.
