Urgent: Opinion on Hertz EP4 amp

I have an 2009 Innova V, with the stock system+speakers.

I have a budget of about 20K, so Toqueer (Car Fancy, Koramangala) has suggested the following:

1. Hertz DSK Components, front and back (10K for 2 pairs)
2. Hertz EP4 amplifier (8.5K)
3. Audison Amplifier wires (2.8K)
4. Installation and Damping (2K i think)

This is just over my budget but i'm ok with it.

I'm just skeptical of the EP4 amplifier but Toqueer is recommending it strongly. I have seen almost no discussion of it on bhp, and very few on the net. I would have considered the Kenwood 8401, but it's out of stock, and i'm not sure how the replacement is. I asked about JBL 1004 but he thought it's more power than i need and its even more expensive.

More info: The car is both driver driven and self-driven, so i want good sound both in the front and the back. This is our family car and I'm not looking to pimp it up, just want better SQ. At a later point, i will invest in a DVD HU+DVD screen for the rear passengers (ie, my kids!) so planning to make do with stock system for now.

Thanks,

Gaurav

ps My personal car has a better system which i love: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/ask-gu...ml#post1573151. While i don't have that budget this time, it tells you the kind of sound i like.

I have tried EP4 with entry level DSK. The setup was not warmer and was tad bright.

Have a look at 8404 for 9-10K with B/W if you are looking for SQ.

I think the EP4 is in the same league as the JBL S644, its an okay amp for 8k

Interesting.

I was *just* looking at alternatives from bhp postings and heres what i came up with:
- Kenwood 8404
- JBL s644
- Blaupunkt GT4 Special Mk2

Just going by the reviews, I would lean towards the 8404 or the s644. I don't think he can demo these amps at his shop. How am i supposed to make a decision between them? :-(

Ask around. Some of our members in Bangalore will definitely have one of them installed. Perhaps Sathya(blueraven316) can help.

Kenwood 8404 > hertz EP4 > JBL S644 = Blau MKII

Out of the above Kenwood will be costlier.

As rg_chn suggested visit blueraven's shop he will guide you.

@Gaurav,

You do not have a subwoofer in your setup which will miss the low frequencies.

If I were in your place, I would put components upfront and coaxial at the rear so that some lows can be achieved. And the coaxials being cheaper than the compos, saved money can be used for a good amp. Or the installation cost will come down.
