Wait Navin,
We seem to have made a mistake. The man has a 4 channel amp already. So now it's workable.

2 pairs of speakers and a sub will run him 10k. given that he is breaking his budget if he can spring for 2.5K more he could add a sony 502 to drive the subs. what say you oh master?

me old school. dont like running amps to 2 ohms. but it seems newer car amps have gotten that problem licked.

My fears might be unfonuded and based on my legacy. Speaker loads are reactive and the impedance can drop and jump dependant on freq. typically a 5-6" will have an impedance drop around 50-100Hz and a peak in the area as well. sort of like a mountain peak with valleys on either side. you know what i mean you seen enough impedance curves.

New Amps are ok with 2 ohms. Trust me. I'm not advocating running them at that impedance, but it's better than robbing a bank na?

2 pair for speaker + 2 subs frm two 4 channels?

yah, you can. would be good if you get a more powerful amp for teh subs though. A sony 504 will be too inadequate.

You certainly can run 2 pairs of spk with one sony 4-ch amplifier but hooking two subw, that two 12",will be asking for two much.

You have add some more money as u will need better and very powerful amplifer and also good branded amplifer kit and rca cables.

do you have specs on these subs. what i would like to see are sensitivity and Mms. if those numbers are right (high sensitivity and low Mms) your sony 504 might be able to run 2 of them.

Hi Navin, correct me if I'm wrong, but in most cases, manufacturers don't publish the Mms, unless it's a serious brand.

So what you could also do is, you could look at the Fs and Vas and if the Vas is startlingly low inspite of a Low Fs, you know the guy's gonna be damn hard to move, and vice versa.

Excuse me I am spoilt by my exposure to "serious" brands! :-) right said B&T. Do they publish Cms?
