Hi Greenhorn,

Should I change the front speakers to components? I am getting decent sound with my current set up and am happy with that. I prefer bass over treble that is why in my HU bass=7, xbass=3 and treble=0

Regarding amp do you have any suggestion? I can rise the budget a little more because I want to get max bass from the JBL 12" sub.

Regards.

@vaisakhr, you may prefer a bass-heavy system today, but perhaps you don't realize what you are missing because you are ignoring the rest. If you get a chance, listen to an installation where everything is balanced - and you will immediately recognize what you have been missing because of your preference for bass.

In a well balanced system (yes, components and sub are quite essential to achieve that), bass does not get ignored - it always appears in correct proportion. Then, even if you increase bass a bit (no harm), you still will hear - by and large - how the music was supposed to sound.

vaisakhr, I didn't put them at the top of the list for nothing
DerAlte has already mentioned why.
as long as you are going to emperor, chances are , you will be recommended a kenwood amp, and a bull audio sub, and bull has a reputation for good "kick bass" (search this forum for bull audio speaker reviews) , and i think they would be a better option than a JBL GT5 Amp/sub combo. of course, if you car going elsewhere, stick with the JBL's.

What exactly is your budget ?

Yes I got your point. But adding a component to the system will increase the budget even further, which I cannot afford now. So I am thinking of adding a sub+amp for now and component 2-3 months later. What is your opinion.

So here one more doubt arises. Bull or jbl?
What is the price of bull sub?
Will I get original bull in Emperor?

Emperor is a very discerning installer. if he suggested jbl + sony to you, I imagine he has his reasons , or probably the bull stuff was out of stock.
I think they are the only place where you can bull stuff in kerala.

how much did they quote ?

dude fpr the love of god, dont buy speakers by looks/ videos/whatever. Listen to them before you buy them.
Personally I prefer the sound of bull components over JBL, but not too sure about the subs & amps. Yours could be different. Its like asking if Chicken biriyani or Mutton Biriyani is better

@jk, what were you trying to suggest? All the above put together sounded like "Bull spread something green, presumably after eating biryani, over the sub".

DA, I think Jk was refering to what is suppsoed to be Gunbir's favourite food. Gunbir (of BBW) represents Bull Audio and is rumoured to love Biryani.
