Navinji, this is where you've got us all wrong. Unlike the rest, we are music lovers first, audiophiles second, and installers last. We live in the KISS world and all our installs reflect that. Personally, I havent used an external EQ / DSP for almost 10 years now...

Even now, though my HU has a very flexible 5band parametric EQ, it is disabled... I run my system active 3 way.

HU> 4 Ch Amp > 2 Ch - Tweeters XO 3.15KHz + 2 Ch - Midbass XO 80Hz ~ 3.15KHz
HU> 2 Ch Amp > Bridged Mono - Sub XO 80Hz

I run my HU flat, the amps run flat too, there is no bass boost.

The Image Dynamics speakers and sub are fantastic and almost all listeners cant believe there is only a single pair of components in the front.

You should hear them. In fact you will soon... yes they are bandpassed , like I said its active 3-way. The midbass is awesome...

I had the Alpine X type... modified / rebranded Vifa XT setup earlier, that was active too. They were ok, went low but weak in the midrange section. Cant hold a candle to the ID Chameleons.

to describe the ID Chameleons... The term "Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee" comes to mind.

Navin, there was not integration between the tweeter and midbass. Though the speakers were not able to come anywhere closer to the ID's but they were the best available in India at that price and killed everything in alpine range and fellow companies.

The newer one with so called ring radiator tweeter is even worse.

Thats because the one on the alpine is a cheap immitation of original ring radiator tweeter.

The ring radiator tweeter is not that bad. Its quite nice...I have heard them on Krell LAT's, Sonusfaber Amati's and Audiophysic's.

Though my favorite is Dynaudio Esotar. Heard them long back on Eggleston Andra's...

The Esotar is excellent. For the money the 9900 from ScanSpeak is not bad. The Model Supreme 110 is also very good. then come the MDT33 and Esotec (D260) etc...of the great tweeters of alltime were the Heil AMTs they had very low resonance and i think most people abused them by using them in 2 ways with 10" woofers XOed at 1k.
