@tsk13 must be referring to one of the capacitors in the XO - he himself had a doubt in the first post. The solder joint must have failed on the PCB.

Aren't those protected? AFAIK, the XO come with a outer box. Ref : Pic attached (taken from an old thread here)

DerAlte, I ain't no technical person I'm just telling what the repair guy told me; apologies for the confusing nomenclature used. I'm talking of the Black Capacitor (if it is called one) next to the thumb in the pic. Thanks Panky for the pic. Moreover, Illusions do have amazing sound over my old stock Sony's but I don't vouch for quality of the XO.

So was a new XO needed or was the old XO re-used?

The old XO's part was soldered and the same is in use. It is under warranty but I didn't have the patience to courier to Mumbai from Delhi and wait for the replacement. I asked for the price of a new XO and JBL one was available for around 500 bucks.

By the way Navin Sir, what is it exactly called?

Why didn't you get it touch with LBM (faridabad).. he would've changed it for you.

He's talking about the ferrite core inductor. It is the heaviest part and gets loose often during shipping, or if the crossover is installed on doors.

Panky, since my purchase was routed directly from Hermit Audio, Mumbai I didn't feel apt troubling LBM for the same.

B&T, the Crossover is not on the doors, it's near to the dash. I would like to take this opportunity to tell entire community that my experience with you has been GREAT. I could never imagine the kind of support you provided and thank you for the same. I always thought that getting a product from another City means trouble but your support proved wrong.

Navin Sir, if epoxy the Resin type transparent gum then it has been used. The little Electricity driven gun was used.
