wierd. my dad was an audio nut. why my mom likes her audio too (but not like dad). Dad used to test his subs by telling how many windows he rattled. He taught me about resonance frequencies and stuff like that when i was still in the 3rd or 4th grade. when we got our first premier and I told him I waned a stereo he said great and took me to lamington road.

time to JBLfy !!!!

sorry 'bout diggin up this old thread..

here i am again with same old questions....

I am plannin to put a decent amp and a pair of compos in the front. Budget : 15 to 20k

My questions :
1. which compos do fit into Corsa ( in the stock location - the door panel ) ??
2. Which amp to run compos and 937's ??? I currently have 937 at rear, and plan to put in a bass tube later on.

My HU is a Sony 5510... might change it too..

My wife's corsa uses a pair of 6" comps. At 20K I'd use 7K for compos and 10K for the amp. you also need 3K for the wires and install.

thanks a tonne, Navin.

visiting the JBL shop in day or two.
Having decided on the brand i want to go for, now i am confused with amp. Should i go for the CS60.4 or the GTO75.4 ???

I have finalised on GTO607 for the compos.

The 75.4 has more brawn and at 13K it also costs 4K more than the 60.4. And if you are only using this amp for front and rear speakers i'd also look at the older Alpine 240 (11K) .

If you are hung on JBL I'd consider a Infnity (sister brand of JBL) compoents mated to the 60.4. The 60.4 is 9K. the Infinity comps will run you about 7K. that would leave you 2-2.5K for wires, 1.5-2K for install and maybe some damping sheets like fonomat for the doors.

@alpine - am worried that i might be given a duped amp -- have seen 2-3 friends being cheated and in all the cases, stuff was from alpine... so kinda avoiding it ( unless i find a dealer )

Seen the Infinity compos @ FXaudio shop some days back - the model they had with them costed abt 12k --- way costly imho.

thanks a lot again, navin.

Go to their website. See their lineup. Note the model you want to buy. And go to the authorised dealer and buy it with B&W. It'll solve your getting cheated problem.

It must be kappa series. You can go for lower reference sereis infinty compo 5010 or 6010 which as navin said should cost 7-8k.

If still out of budget, try Hertz, alpine or JBL at about 6k.

Alpine KCE422i

Ok, i need the Alpine FULL SPEED connection cable (KCE-422i) to connect my ipod to 9881.
Any leads where can I get this in pune ? and also the cost, because i was quoted 7.1k for this at Bafna Cars.
And on Crutchfield, it is priced at 30$ - about 1.5k INR

You know Nana Peth right?

When you reach the darga in the middle of the road take a right to enter the hustle bustle of small accessory shops catering to two wheeler spares, etc.

Go to the end of that lane and take a left. At about 40 feet to your right you will see a board which says JVC, etc (big board) he is the distributor for Alpine and Clarion in Pune. Check with him for the latest price or buy from ebay and have someone bring it down for you.

D-i-y ???

@navin,moral, JPL - thanks a lot guys !
@moral - know Nana peth area well so finding the dealer wont be a problem with your set of directions. But I hear this cable is not available very easily in Pune.. some shortage situation and blah blah...

Another thought popped up in my mind - Is is possible and advisable to DIY this cable ??
I searched for 10 pin DIN connector but info shows only upto 8 pin DIN connectors. For the iPod side connector, theres a lot of info available.
