2 12" will move more air and henc might give you high SPLs. A single 12" that is the same cost of 2 cheaper 12" should have better T/S specs and hence give you better SQ (if used properly).

Infinity ref 1260 should be for about 4k. Its a single voice coil sub, Spec wise the sub looks good, can give out smoother response. It has higher sensitivity too than the avg, so no problem with going loud. However requires bigger size of enclosure and if that's not an issue get 2 of these and you'll be happy. If you purely looking at good SQ sub Infinity Kappa will be better pick at your budget. You could also look JL 12W1 or Polk audio.

The 1260 is only 4K? The JBL CS 1215 is about that price and the GTO 1214 is more.

Last time I had checked I had got the price between 4-5k from 3 dealers.
