Region unlocking the JVC KD-avx77

Hi Friends,
I just got the HU installed and to my horror i cant play indian DVDs.
It has an option to change the region from US/Europe/South America.

But even though I set it to Europe, DVDs with region 2 do not play and i get the "Region error" message.

Any one knows how to get it to be region free?

Cheers
Ranjith

There must be an option to set All Regions. Check your manual.

Did you import this set or buy it abroad or something? Sets meant for India don't have this limitation usually. You can check with JVC Service.

register in a forum like avforum.com and post the same.
you will get tips from experts for making it region free.

or you can give it to the electronics grey market guys.
they will do it easily. i got the same done for my Pioneer DVD player from one such guy.

the manual does not say anything making it region free. would be counter productive actually since JVS put the lock in the first place

Actually i did not know it but the fitment dealer must have got it imported. even manual was not present. grey market piece.

i have registered on the avforum and on fixit as well.
noone knows answer there.

thanks 2500CC
i read that page before.
the users on that page itself are complaining that the fix mentioned does not work.

just to be on the safe side, i looked at the solution they mentioned.
the solution page does not mention the code sequence for the avx77.

the manual will not say anything about unlocking as it is against the law.
Region coding is done to help film producers fight video-piracy.

however grey market sellers do the unlocking on their own before selling.

I have the same HU on my car and have not been able to make it region free. BTW, what code did you use to set the region to 2 etc etc? I could not even figure that out.

Hi Sultan
you can get it in the AV settings menu itself.
is really a PITA that i can only play USA dvds.

i mean, i will not be watching movies since am alone n driving mostly in the car.
but having spent so much, this feels like being cheated

btw, Have thrown away the usb stick and connected 500GB HDD now.
annoyance is the HU reads full data again after each interruption like a call comming.
Also, you cannot organize your songs in nice folders. it will flatten the folder structure and only show last level folders which have actual media in them.

Have you tried playing Region 9 discs. They supposedly play on all region players.
