Hello all! The project has been kickstarted again! This week I am shifting to a bigger house and was doing up all the technology, serious home audio, security and automation, which made me very very busy and gave me no option but to delay the carputer. But all that is almost over now. Starting soon...
Watch this space for details guys.
Sorry for the delay in updating this thread.

Waiting .... Waiting... with anxious bated breath... Frank we all need an update fast. So many months now.
Hi guys. I am waiting with bated breath too. Just found out that the touchscreen USB drivers are NOT compatible with windows 7.
WHICH means I am back to square one. (not literally)
Will format the hard drive and reinstall everything.
Ajay is out of town for some work. I will meet him soon after he comes back and I guess we should be having the 'puter running in this coming week (crossed fingers)
Try the XP/Vista driver of
Lilliput. Those touchscreens are generic (all use the same internal design, and probably the same PCB), and the driver is not written by Lilliput. Vista driver works with Win7.
Thanks DerAlte but finally uninstalled Windows 7. Hope to have a faster startup time and a smoother integration with other components with XP.
AND, we're ONLINE :-) Yooooooooooo hoooooooooooooooo!!!!
The 'puter is now fully functional! Centrafuse is a cinch, and the DAMN Core i3 processor is SO blazing fast that nothing lags. Well, almost (considering we have Windows XP calling the shots!)
Have successfully accomplished the following tasks!
1. Audio coming out from ALL speakers (phew! At last!)
2. Centrafuse volume control working
3. Audiomulch + Virtual Audio Cable outputting to ASIO (Asus XONAR) works well
4. Touchscreen now working (windows 7 didn't allow the drivers to be installed)
5. GPS, OBD, Reverse Camera all working PERFECT!
Things to do:
1. Fabricate garnish around screen on the centre console
2. Get Time Alignment to start working (also have to still put in the digital crossover and fader settings)
3. Screen throwing out different colours than intended. Long extension VGA cable is to be blamed.
4. Power supply works perfectly ok, but need to program it. It doesn't shut off when ignition goes off and doesn't come back on when ignition comes on. For now, there is a switch on the dash that helps me do it. But, sometimes, the computer just restarts at it's own accord. Must do this soon, as I might risk draining the battery overnight.
5. We MUST bypass the Asus AudioCentre since it is adding some amount of echo/distortion to the audio (not sounding very great, but good for a start) For now, the audio centre is feeding Audiomulch (not ASIO4ALL, I just don't know how to use it)
6. Need some OBD plugins, and also some plugins to make centrafuse navigate music better.
7. Some good skins
8. A good webradio application for centrafuse
9. A good amount of tuning and adjustments by world renowned alcoholic, Ajay Kamath. (baans aur tabla)
So, Yayy and WOOHOO! Driving about 100 km tomorrow. Will report about the experience soon!

Congrates mate..
You should get a better branded VGA cable. I had the same problem until I ordered a good cable from Delhi.
Congrats man.....
I hope by next week or so, we are going to have atleast 20-30 pics from frank for his most expensive Carputer of 2010.
Come on frank, give us pics, we'll consider it our X-mas Gift :-)
And yes, try any good VGA Cable, try to source one which comes with Monitors, recently a friend had similar issue with Laptop to 22" monitor, and it was solved once he arranged a cable which was originally packed along some samsung monitor.
even if you use good cable, this problem can come if the routing of cable is not proper and has to tight bends.
Thanks guys.
1. Got a new VGA cable
2. Time alignment and Xover now working perfectly.
3. OBD has stopped responding. Hope it's nothing serious.
4. ASIO drivers of ASUS giving trouble. Hence operating through DirectSound for now. ASIO4ALL not providing any output at all. Any help on that???
5. System is very stable, but sometimes, when I start my car the power supply just reboots the computer within one minute of switching on.
6.Some cracks and pops present in the audio, but I think that's the work of Directsound. As soon as I get ASIO working, it will sort itself out.
7. My Lenovo Mouse and Keyboard are FABULOUS. They are doing a very good job and I wouldn't be able to do with JUST a touch screen. Also helps when dad and mom are sitting in front and I need to operate the system.
8. Sound quality is already better than the Eclipse. Will keep a write up ready on that.
That's it for now. Enjoying the system. Very reliable. Very stable. Loving it!
