For example on typical music I listen to (70s Rock, Jazz, Blues, Classical) 50% of the energy is under 300Hz, 65% is under 1200Hz, 75% is under 2500Hz, 90% is under 5000Hz. So if you are XOing at say 12db/2500Hz then 75% of the power would be needed by the midbass and only 25% for the tweeter. |
Hi Navin,
Yes, I calculated with more or less same percentages. For me, under 2000 hz where my cross-over is, should be around 75% of the music / energy. So, for a single channel driving both woofer and tweeter, the mid bass driver would get only 12 watt out of 16 watts of toal available power ( Lets assume). But now it is getting full 16 watts to drive only the woofer i.e 33% of power of hike effectively which is not negligible, what do you say?
I agree that it sill cannot beat the solution of having an external amp, but again I have limitations as explained earlier. |
