Is this the much elusive dash kit for Fiesta? Got hold of it today from Chennai Ford for 416/-

^^ I guess you have got the trim kit to house the Fiesta's OE HU. Notice the space for hazzard lights & the fog lamp switches!

The 2-Din trim kit will be of the size of the OE HU. This pic from Sathee's car might give you an idea.

^^Satheesh's console was custom fabricated for the 2-DIN HU.
Ford's console should most probably just a single model.

The highlighted portion in red, is where the 2-Din trim kit from Ford should fit in.

The trim kit purchased by Sanjay is something thats for the OE HU. Check the highlighted portion which has the slot for the harard lamp switch & fog lamp switches. Highlight in yellow is where the OE HU will fit in.

But this one can be used too right? Sanjay's car is an SXi and that center console is wooden. So the portion above the AC control switches will have to be removed and this new black one should be fitted around the defogger and hazard switches. The Kenwood 2 DIN will go into the slot in the middle. It's a 7 incher.

In Sathee's unit, the space between the red mark is the size of OE HU where the trim kit has been fitted with the black outline to house the 2-DIN HU. The space between the yellow marking is the size of a 2-DIN HU.

Compare this to the picture posted by Sanjay. Notice the space between the red marking. The space is same as that of the OE HU. The 2-Din trim kit will be something that would fit in this space.

I hope I made it clear this time

Got it. In other words, sanjayc bought the wrong kit from Ford. So looks like some custom work like sathee's has to happen now to fill the gap between the two lines. And he gets to retain the OE wood console also.

Thanks Gilead. Since in my first posting I was hung on the "cat" orange, I (completely) missed what you had to say (re the brand). I asked the price asuming that it was some new / other brand that I have not seen personally. Since its noisekill, need not bother you or B&T .

Yesterday, we had a quickie meet at Power Zone, Myself, Gilead, JagXF, HirevBG and Sanjay met there at around 9.45 PM. It was a really quick meet as we dispersed in say about 20 to 30 minutes.

Got a chance to audition Gilead's setup after the damping of his front doors. Actually the first time I heard it was when the install was just over and after that it was 'sterday.

What must i say, it is just awesome. The difference is very clear and it is mindblowing too.

It is like you have a small 8" inches sub in the doors. The mids were very clear and everything was crystal. I really loved it.

JL is really proving its worth day by day. The break-in period should be over and the sound is too smooth and never harsh at any volume.

Gilead, I must say your patience, all this time with the stock audio, has really paid you well. Congrats once again.

The only upgrade in my opinion as of now would be to get a MONO for your sub.

Cheers

Thank you Pr 007!

You did not hear any hip hop and other low bass songs. As of now the sub is putting out more than enough bass for my taste.

But if I get a mono, I will also bi-amp the JLs. Can you imagine how that will sound.

Today, myself, Gilead, Pr_007 and sanjayc had quickie ICE meet at Gilead's place. Auditioned Gilead's ride, a beautiful sounding setup indeed. The four of us spent abt 20 mins inside the car listening to various songs. The JL components and Infinity's sub compliments each other so well. In few tracks the mid bass and sub blended beautifully. IMO Ford's speaker location on the front door's are ideal for ICE'ing and JL mid bass placed there gives enjoyable sound staging. All in all money well spent . I would definitely recommend this combo.

Gilead, you are really lucky.

Whatever the effort goes in and how much ever one spends for ICE in the very first install, he will definitely not be satisfied or the comment's from others would not be that encouraging.

But let me tell you, in your very first go you got the best setup your budget could get you. Really loved every song played in your car.

The mid-bass were too good. Every time I hear your setup I fall in love with it again and again. Very good, very good.

Thanks guys! I hope to audition Pr_007's completed ICE in the near future too. I bet the JL will sound even better when bi-amped. And throw in the G5 sub into the mix and it's gonna sound like a dream.

donarun: you need a big car with a lot of mounting depth since your drivers are huge. Think about a pre-owned Accord.

What budget? The final bill for my ICE was only about 3.5 times higher than my original budget thanks to all the brainwashing.
