sathyaprakash, take a look at this. The MTX has an EBC (External Bass Control) wired remote which you can fix at a convenient location on the dash. That's what you need to control the sub.

not just MTX, but most pre-amped units come with a cord remote for base.

Power Zone is probably the best place to get any type of MTX installed. He is an MTX-Kicker specialist. You will know what I mean if you go there.

You can find Power Zone contact details and other recommended installers here. Chennai - Team-BHP

Approx cost of the MTX would be 10K. Not sure. Add another 2K for amp power wiring. Leave the placement in the boot and tuning to the installer if you finally get it done at Power Zone.

I guess you have all the info that you need. Now it's time for you to do some actual leg work. Enjoy the bass.

Installing your old audio system in a different car

Hey mate.

With regards to your comment about your older car sounding better than the current one, I would like you to take the following into consideration.

Each car is different so there will be difference in sound quality. This is based on music transfer, which in most cases is reflected sound, also you have to consider the cabin gain, each car has a different resonant frequency so maybe the bass sounded better in your previous vehical. You may want to read up on the tutorial on how to set amplifier gains. If you are not sure, this is how you do it, adjust your head units bass and treble to a flat response, turn the amps gain all the way down. Its a good idea to have somebody in the front seat to adjust the head unit's volume, since I am assuming your amplifier is in the boot area. Also you may need to turn all bass boost down in the amp (if any) and then crank your head unit volume to 3/4 loud and then begin to adjust the gain on the amp. Keep going until you hear distortion and then back off a little. Tell your mate to turn the volume down on the head unit and you are done!

You have to realise that the amp will produce the same power as specified but you just have to adjust your amps gain to your head units output voltage. Good luck mate!

@Monkey_Wrench/Navin, would changing speakers help? Or the best bet for any ANHC upgrade warrant a dash kit with aftermarket unit? Can steering mounted audio controls be retained in that scenario?

Look, honestly -- there's no end to what you can upgrade, and what you can't. Every small upgrade will help in some way or the other. One of my earlier plans was to get the BASE model ANHC (without anything) and then put in a monster 2-din HU, pimp the ride with 4-channel amp, speakers, components yada yada. I finally decided against it, because the stock HU in the VMT had it's own charm and I decided to go for the higher model and shelf the upgrade.

I did the very basic upgrade -- I kept everything as it was, and added a 2-channel amp that supports only the sub. I tweaked the settings and amp gain until I was happy with it, and now have the best of both worlds -- that is the stock HU along with better bass, thanks to the Sub addition.

So if I get your question correctly, I don't think you can retain the steering controls if you change the HU (note that you'll need to get a whole new stock dash mount from Honda for that).

Let me know a little more about what you have in mind and maybe I can help.

Yes changing speakers will help. Every little bit helps. I'd start with damping the doors though.

My wife insisted that we retian the stock look of her ANHC. Her car was bought when the ANHCs all came with a stock (CD less) HU and the dash kit was not yet available.

Yet because she was used to TA from her earlier car (Opel Sail with an Alpine 9833) we had to implement TA in this car. This meant an external processor. The MS-late was not out and the Audison bit one had issues (since resolved) so the choice boiled down to the RF 360.2 and Alpine 650. The Alpine offered less flexibility but was cleaner so we use the Alpine and then tricked the Alpine into producing the tonal changes we wanted.

With stock HU + Bull Components + 4 channel amp + JBL Sub --- sound better than stock, or would it just lead to distortion caz of the issues you have highlighted. I dont plan to install an expensive processor.

Quick clarification on Stock HU on Honda City iVTEC

Hi Folks,

Can you please let me know if the stock HU on the new iVtec VMT comes with 2 pre-outs or not. I have a JBL CS60.4 amp and a GT 12" SW which i want to connect. Planning to install these this weekend once, i'm sure that the stock HUs have 2 pre-outs.

Many Thanks.

Re: Quick clarification on Stock HU on Honda City iVTEC

Gurus,

I'm willing to change the 2 tweeters and 4 door stock speakers which have come along the car - but dont want to change the HU and spoil the ambience of the central dashboard. Just want to confirm if the HU has 2 pre-outs.

Thanks.

Re: Quick clarification on Stock HU on Honda City iVTEC

I'm running my JBL compos, coax and sub all from the OEM HU.
There is just 1 preout.
Simple Solution,add a Schoshe Line Out Convertor.SLC 4.
It will cost you around 2.5k

Re: Quick clarification on Stock HU on Honda City iVTEC

Dont worry about the Pre-outs. Just get a good HLA and you are ready to go. A good HLA will give you best soud quality.
My friend is using Genesis HLA III Series in the Cruze with stock HU with a great difference in sound quality.
