ICE upgrade : VW Polo
(
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/car-entertainment/88467-ice-upgrade-vw-polo-5.html)
I have a 2010 VW Polo 1.2 TSI with the following ICE
- RCD510 Multimedia Entertainment System (As part of the initial IPL Kit)
- 220W 2Way Speakers for all 4 doors from the Vento (against the 130W speakers that come with the Polo)
- JBL GT Series 4ch Amplifier
For the past month or so, I have been hearing some distortion from the front left speaker intermittently. The VW workshop informed me that the speaker needs to be replaced and this gave me the opportunity for upgrading the speakers.
This is what I have in mind for the upgrade as I am not able to increase the budget beyond 4000/- to 5000/- at this point in time.
Front Speakers: Pioneer - TS G624C 16cm Component System Package [2490/-]
http://www.snapdeal.com/product/pion...mponent/651178
Rear Speakers:
Option 1: Pioneer - TS A635 16 cm, 3-way Speaker (Pair Of Speakers) [2450/-]
http://www.snapdeal.com/product/pion...5-16-cm/651176
Option 2: Sony - XS GT16422 - 16cm 4-way Co-axial speaker (Pair Of Speakers) [2699/-]
http://www.snapdeal.com/product/sony...cm-4way/639848
All the people going in for ICE in this forum in a Polo / Vento have opted for 6.5" speakers while the stock speakers are 6". Would there be a problem fixing the 6.5" in the Polo?
Would this combination be fine ?? Gurus, kindly suggest if any changes need to be made.

Pioneer components for front are no match for other brands like JBL, Infinity Reference, Bull, Auditor etc. which cost around 5K on the street. If your budget is inviolate, don't compromise a purchase - wait till you are able to get the right budget.
Meanwhile, replace the faulty speakers with one from the rear doors. In the rear, switch to the Pioneer 6x9 oval coaxial - better bass than the round OE speakers you have now.

It is 6.5" in Polo / Vento, not 6". Slight difference in where one measures. Also, the standard plastic OE mounting spacer will be replaced by an MDF spacer ring - better.

Based on your advice, narrowed down on this combination.
Front Speakers: Infinity - PR6500CS - 6.5'' Two Way Car Audio Component Loudspeaker | 320W | 3990/-
Rear Speakers:
Option1: Infinity - PR6502 - 6.5'' Two Way Car Audio Loudspeaker | 280W | 2490/-
Option2: Pioneer - TS A935 16 X 24 cm, 3-way Speaker | 400W | 2549/-
Which one would you suggest for the rear?
Would the above combination of front + rear speakers be a good combination with the existing JBL GT X646 amp??

Front is good, though Infinity Reference would be slightly better.
Rear: The Pio 6x9 coaxial is meant for parcel shelf mounting. The Infinity 6.5" round coaxial will go into the rear doors. I would prefer a 6x9 coax - better bass than the round coax. Yes, the 646 will go well with these speakers.

Order the 6500Cx ref from snapdeal, around the same price. But, will be much much better than the primus, for the rears, a primus co-ax is okay.
Finally ordered the following on SnapDeal.
Front Speakers: Infinity - PR6500CS - 6.5'' Two Way Car Audio Component Loudspeaker | 320W | 3990/-
Rear Speakers: Pioneer - TS A935 16 X 24 cm, 3-way Speaker | 400W | 2549/-
The items are likely to be dispatched in a couple of days. Am expecting them to be delivered by around the 3rd or 4th of June.
Could anyone in Hyderabad suggest a good place where I can get these fixed? Need a place where the quality of work is good and the installer knows what he is doing and doesnt mess up with the car.
Thanks again.
Did they get delivered? How was the seller?

I was out of town travelling over the weekend and it turned into one continuous drinkfest. Meanwhile, the items got delivered in very good condition and as soon as I got back this morning, I got the speakers fitted into my car and I must say that there is a world of difference now.
I cant stop listening to music and am now taking longer routes just so I can spend more time listening to music in the car. A trip to Bangalore is already planned for later this month so I can enjoy the new speaker setup :D
Who was the seller again, is snapdeal efficient?
Planning to order the ref's!

I bough these items from SnapDeal and both the component and co-axial speakers came well packaged and on time with no damage whatsoever.
Hi Guru,
I have 2010 Polo Highline TDI, it has company fitted Audio system which is started giving some issues now. I am getting RC 320 which comes in vento from someone. Just want to ask, will this be perfect fit or do I need to upgrade something, as mine doesn't have any other medium to play except CD and radio. But this one has car reader as well as usb drive. Kindly suggest should I go with it
Thanks in advance.

Sure, go ahead. Nothing else would need to be upgraded.

Of course, DerAlte knows better but I remember reading at more than one place that it is perfect fit but RCD320's lights don't turn on if we put it in old Polo, everything else works.
If possible, please put this condition to the seller that you will swap the HU (not going to take more than 20-30 minutes) and if everything works after swap, then only pay him.
PS: I own a 2011 Polo HL which had the same basic HU (RCD030), upgraded to a Pioneer 759 last year.
thanks guys, that looks well, I will check the swap and see if everything works as required.

Very good suggestion, @mukeshgoel. clap::thumbs up
I have moved @sam003's post and answers to the Polo thread so that others also benefit by @mukeshgoel's suggestion.
