Im considering an upgrade of the amp in my current setup:

HU - Pio 6950
Amp - Kenwood 8401
Front - Illusion Electras EL62
Rear - GZ 6x9s
Sub - GZ TW 12 MK2

Then Kenwood 8401 is rated at 60W x 4 at 4 ohms and 180W RMS bridged for the sub. With the current setup, the sub feels grossly underpowered. If i get a new MBQ DSC480 doing 80W x 4 and 320W bridged , will there be a significant difference ?

Other suggestions are welcome. :thumbs up

How much would you be paying for the new MBQ amp?

Another option would be to get a mono amp for the sub and use the existing amp for the other speakers in the car.

I would suggest you to invest in a Mono Block amp. Rather than a marginally powerful 4 channel. Moreover the 8401 is a SQ beauty. There are not any replacements at that price point..

Around 8K. I considered the option of a separate mono but that would also require a separate power cable wiring. Plus, i think the 75amp alternator in my Indica is already overworked.

I dont think the alternator would be an issue. Get a mono amp and u would never be more happy.
